Toon fan in peace lads. Saw this and thought I'd post in case you hadn't seen it.... http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3774...awyer-reveals-contract-loophole-could-see-van
I still maintain, despite the wums and some doom mongers assertion that RVP will leave, that he will and has always intended to sign a new contract with Arsenal this summer.
This is the first comment RVP has made which suggests he is thinking of staying: http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/van-persie-let-s-keep-this-up-for-a-year
This article is a joke right? The captain of Arsenal FC exploiting a mickey mouse little known loophole so he can walk away for nothing, not even Carlos Tevez would do that!
it's too dangerous if you understand the rule. it used to be that the compensation was the value of the remainder of the contract, but now it's decided by a tribunal so many clubs are unwilling to use it in case the tribunal sets a ridiculous value.
I think he would leave, put yourself in his shoes, he is entering into the last quarter of his career, no prospect of winning anything (unless of course AFC do something really drastic in the next transfer window), he will probably see his good mate Cesc get to the final of the champ league and you tell me what you would advise him to do if he was your client? I think it is fairly certain it is not about money with RVP, I think he is a winner and would want to win things, if he does leave, I think most fans would welcome him back, just like they did Henry! However right now, lets enjoy what could prove to be his swansong season and get that 3rd place!
Along with him repeatedly saying that he is committed to Arsenal and using his programme notes against spurs to rubbish speculation linking him away from the club and to tell people that there was nothing sinister about waiting until the summer to sort out his contract...
You really think Arsenal have "No prospect of winning anything"? Presumably you think Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs also have no prospect? Or do you think RVP will leave, so that he can win the League cup?
I don't think RvP is motivated by money in the main but I do feel that at this stage of his career the thought of adding to his trophy cabinet would be high on his wishlist. His loyalty to the club has never been in question. I'm sure that if he wanted to, he could have left by now but I'm equally certain that he wants to be in a position to get himself the best possible deal which could be a mix of remuneration and silverware. Remuneration alone will be unlikely to keep him but the prospect of a decent salary in the final and likely best years of his career along with a better than even chance of silverware would see him stay with us which is why I believe he is waiting to see what happens at Arsenal this summer. If nothing happens this summer that bears indication of this club having ambition beyond endlessly gunning for a place in the Top 4 and more likely the third or fourth berths, then I don't see him being encouraged to stay much as we would all like him to. If the club shows no intent and he leaves I for one wouldn't blame him. It's all about what Arsenal will do and if they ' do nothing ' as has been the case for these past years then all the talk that occasionally gives us all encouragement won't count for a thing, either with us or indeed RvP. Time for the club's management to show it's intent. Then I'm sure RvP will show us his too.
So first we had Fabregas could use some rule to buy out his contract and **** off Now RVP can do the same Why is this never said about any other players!?
