UNBELIEVABLE....EMBARRASSING....SHOCKING Just when we are playing well, and the play offs seem a possibility, the players fall apart. When a player like McCleary is having a purple patch, take him out of the equasion, HARD..... Warnock said: "I'm quite embarrassed about the result. But I don't think you learn much about your players when you're winning games, I think you learn things when things go against you, who stands up and who you want in the trenches with you. "I've learnt probably more than I have in the other games tonight, but in fairness some of them were just shattered." Shattered.... We have played the same number of games as Forest? Poor excuse!!! We now have 48 hours to make some emergency signings, should we do that, or wait til the Summer.
Morning - The dream is over, wait till next season now and this result probably means the cull will start the moment the final whistle is blown against Leicester. No team should ever concede 7 at home, I don't buy into the fatigue issue, Brown, Becchio and Webber can't possibly be tired and they are meant to be professional sportsmen - You have a midweek game you skip a training session, simple... How many blokes on here would love to play a couple of football games a week compared to their ****ty 12 hour shift jobs, tired my ass. It is either NW caught on the spot and wondering what do I say about that and he needed to find a quick excuse or his way of saying to Bates I will be needing to build a squad with depth. When Warnock came in I was pleased, I said before we now have an extended pre-season then after a couple of decent results and performances I allowed myself to get carried away and hope for promotion returned, after last night my feet are back down firmly on the ground.
Elland, Forest had 10 days break We had 3 and it definitely showed. we werent even 3rd to the ball, clayton was running like he had lead weights in his boots, Lees was horrendous, webber did **** all when he came on, Snodgrass was shocking and gave the ball away on edge of box (they went on to score) Odea,Brown and McCormack where the only ones who looked fit
YWBK, wonder how many of these shattered players went out on the Town Saturday night? Bet they all did....
Ristac, yep, the dream is over til next season. Don't know what was worse Bringing Paynter on, or scoring the seventh...
Elland, I know mate, Delph did say that when he picked up his man of the match award in the directors box he was asked "whats the difference between leeds and villa" he replied "none of us carry any extra pounds and used becchio as an example" he also said "at villa we are not allowed to drink up to 4 days before a game he used Snoddy as an example" Professionilsm is the difference between premiership and Championship, Look at Andy Reid quality player but wont make it in the premiership cos hes a full on fat ****
Ristac, I used to play a sport to a high level, competitions etc, and have played against full time internationals, on top of working a 60 hour week....
If they were that tired mate then they don't deserve to be called a professional footballer, either that or the fitness training needs looking into.
When I was out two Saturdays ago, 3 Saints players were on the next table guzzling beer, BUT, they have earnt the right to do so, by being in the position they are in....
Even the best squads have to be rotated for weeknight games. The problem, and I've said this all season and last season, is our strength in depth. It's not good enough, and even against Forest, players like Paynter, Bromby and Vayrynen aren't going to get a result. Blame Bates for having Gwyn Williams imposing a wage cap on the previous manager and Bates turning down/failing to acquire several transfers that would have strengthened our squad. That left Grayson, learning from his lack of squad rotation the season before, in the impossible position of having to acquire a lot of back-up rather than first team players who'd push the existing average players onto the bench. Hence why our squad is so ****, and our first-team so average. That and the players who've left. Time for the protests to resume outside the stadium.
Disgraceful, leeds united conceding 7 goals at elland road, all of them should hang there heads in shame, sir don will be turning in his grave. Tired, foooooking tired they dont know a hard days work none of the fooookers
I was genuinely shocked this morning as I glanced through last nights results! As with our legendary dire showing against Colchester United 2 seasons ago it's hard to know what to say without touching the odd nerve or two. Supporting bigger teams (as we both do) we do not expect results like this and are more of a shock to the system, especially at home but to do it against a team that has struggled to hit the back of the net for most of the season is truly astonishing! Must admit, I loved Colin's spin on it - learn more about the players/team from this defeat than the previous games etc.
Thai it was the lack of fight in the team that was shocking, no desire to win the ball (apart from micheal brown)
Are you trying to tell me NW has lost the4 dressing room already?? Joking aside, you have total empathy from me and probably other sensible supporters whose team has suffered equally humiliating days/nights despite what they might say on here I know this is the first time Leeds have conceded 7 at home but some years ago I went to Highbury to see your lot (I think it was a league cup game - about 1980 I would think)) and saw Arsenal demolish you 7-1 that night, that may have been a little different - Arsenal were amazing that night!
