having being "young enough" to see maradonna, then zidane etc i can say 110% messi is better all round than either.

I honestly think no matter what some aging wannabe says about having to win world cups (and i think he will if argentina put a proper coach in place) this guy is going to be THE BEST of all time. you can talk about pele and all that and say he got 1000 goals (yeah right, brazil has mad rules back then that allowed anything be recorded)

no messi is the best of all time, he'd got it all, in both feet... amazing.

talking about oh his team mates do this or that... come on! do we think ronaldo's team mates don't abck him... or maradonna's in his day? it is a team sport..... but messi produces magic that no other can go do effortlessly and is a joy to be treasured

And you'll tell us who does score so many without his team mates?

A great player. I still stand by my comment that he would struggle to get 30 goals per season in the Premier League, but any one rarely gets that record.

Though when I last watched him I was frustrated at how average he looked, far from what I was led to expect.

You just come across as someone that refuses to acknowledge greatness. Messi is heads and shoulders above everyone.

And to think there are some clowns out there that still think Ronaldo is a better player. I think he would score as many if not more in the prem league, I just don't get why people think the prem league is so good anymore, there are some shocking teams in it now. How many would Messi score against Wolves or Wigan? or maybe Gary Caldwell or Roger Johnson would put the shackles on him <laugh>

He genuinely wasn't very good when I last saw him. The commentators hyped him up and he had an off day.

Messi is still a great player.

'Best of a generation', reminds me of books I have read a time back, The Emperor series by Conn Iggulden. Great series about Caesar's life, what he doesn't have in records and commentaries he creates and seamlessly blends in with fact to add fantstic detail to vague accounts of historical battles and the times between. Well worth a read even if you are not a history buff of any kind.

    BTT.
Diego Maradona is the most talented player ot grace the game imo but..

A player cannot really be best of alll time, that statement is nonsense anyway, trying to compare two things when one doesn't exist any more, good luck with that. You can only be the best of your generation, that is that, all else is mere opinion regardless of how many votes you get. The Suarez\Nani Sky fiasco showed that.

People only say that though because that's the only thing they can think of to 'criticise' him for. If you took the key players out of any team in the world then they would obviously be worse off.

Mascherano couldn't get in the West Ham team a few years ago and now he plays regularly for Barca. That shows West Ham in a bad light, not Masch.

If Barca moved to the Premier League they would run riot and Messi would probably score 50+ goals again. On the other hand, if Messi signed for Stoke then Tony Pulis probably wouldn't have a clue what to do with him and end up dropping him in favour of Ryan Shotton who is better at long throws.

  13. Doesn't Messi regularly out score C.Ronaldo...? And didn't C.Ronaldo get 40+ goals for Man Utd in his penultimate season...? #justsaying

Edit: C.Ronaldo got 42 in his penultimate season at Man Utd, 31 in the league.
