I don't think any of those players - maybe Bendtner, have played in the first team like Ramsey has, so I'm not sure you can say Wenger had the same opinion of them.

It may be foolish to believe he is top class just because Wenger believes it, but it is a sign he will be top class. Or is the only sign you recognise, when YOU think they will be top class?

 

I dont think it is lucky that we have rvp and they dont. Surely? I would say luck is things like wierd bounces off the post or incorrect ref decisions giving a victory. None of that in the liverpool match. We won because rvp is better than their strikers. And rvp is part of our team...

 

Pretty sure you ar eboth agreeing but just arguing over terminology. I mean even a league 2 player is "good" as that is a relative term. If we are comparing Ramsey to Zidane then he is ****. If we are comparing him to heskey then he is a top player and if we are comparing him to my local pub team then he is a genius.

No idea what Wenger ever saw in Squillaci - but not everyone he brings in is going to be top class. He will make some mistakes. Squillaci is certainly one of them. He also likened Stepanovs to Adams .

Not a dig, it's just I don't think just playing for us is any sign that a player is top class.

 

Ramsey will come good. He was not ready to fulfill the creative void left by Fabregas this season. It's been a difficult season for Aaron on and off the pitch. But as shown against Chelsea he has plenty of talent and just needs to learn the new role. I think he could have been more steady if he played in Arteta's position, where he could have played it more simple. But he was meant to be our creator and was not ready for the job and as such he was trying too many things and not doing what he did before the injury. He still has all the qualities and this was his first full season after the leg break. This is a two footed player who has has the technical abilities needed to become a top player. This season was his learning curve and it will make him a better player.

I'm trying to play Devils Advocate here because I don't want this to turn out to be another Jayram vs Whoever thread

 

Given past seasons of double figure goal tallys from Fabregas, Nasri, Arsharvin et al. Is anyone really saying Arteta in third place with four, is a team scoring goals rather than one man?

 

Ramsey has no had a good season at all, but I see his potential and I was hopeful he would step into the Fabregas role but it is clear he cannot and doesn't have the talent to, but he may forge a role of his very own, he doesn't necessarily have to play like Fabregas to be a success. When he came on against ... Spurs .. I think, he got the pace of the game immediately and was very direct, so I know he can change his play.

But I have to admit, what Jayram et al have said so far about him not being very good this season is spot on. He does slow the game down, he hasn't been creative, he does keep trying stupid flicks that don't work. A Midfield of Arteta, Song and Ramsey is dreadful, no pace, no creativity, its a dead midfield.
