Albeit with a game in hand, but 8 points off the play offs....with 8 games left! Next game is Ipswich.....also in very good form as of late, so that will be a tough game. Every game is must win from now on though!
Good win without probably our 2 best players this season. Nice to see Murray score again and cheers Dave James.
I know. I remember a year or so back there was heavy snow. Can't remember the exact date, but I remember vividly that "They" were playing York, it was the match that was abandoned or postponed and York were demanding compensation. To Luke Ashmead's credit he, Euan Duncan and other members of the the sport team did some fantastic impromptu coverage, but they finished on the dot at 10:30 despite the fact that there were still major pileups on the M4 and M1 among other places.
Oh i don't remember that! lol...i think that what makes a good broadcaster...it's not the easy bits, but all the ad libbing that they have to do...the guy on SSN the day, breaking the news of Muamba did an awful job!
A good win. Good night ladies and gentlemen. Until the next time. Always a pleasure esspecially when we WIN !!!! YELLOWS !!!
Great result in a night of great results - the tramps getting stuffed along with the dirty one's - the Cobblers getting a last gasp winner... David James - Once a Hornet, Always a Hornet...
All in all a very satisfying performance. There is always one team every year that makes has a sprint finish at the end of the season for the play-offs, why can't it be us? We don't have the likes of Reading, Southampton or West Ham in our fixtures, though given the unpredictable nature of the Championship that may not count for too much. If we are to get into the play-offs a LOT will have to go our away, but at the beginning of the season if you had said that with 8 games to go a worst case scenario would have been mid-table mediocrity everyone on this board would have torn that poor person's arm off. It's also good that Taylor and Nosworthy kept a clean sheet in their first pairing together at the back. On the presumption that Mariappa leaves this transfer window, the signing of Nosworthy in January comes across to me as Dyche banking on these two playing at the back for us next season. Credit should also go to Iwelumo, he has taken a lot of flack but I have heard fans praise him over the last couple of games. Just needs the goals now to go with the improving performances!
Lost player here as well. Another 11 points would be good as it would be a better season than the last one.
Ashmead did a great job that night. Had a friend who did some coursework on the instantaneous coverage of the 9/11 attacks from the various US networks. He told me you'd be amazed how much better ABC were than anyone else. Apparently half of them didn't realise for a good 5-10 minutes that the first tower had completely collapsed. In fairness to Sky (I hate being even-handed) I've seen the BBC cover live events very poorly.
Listening to radio brizzle phone-in.....'credit to Watford, played as a team for 90 mins, pressed us all over the pitch, loads of enthusiasm; tackled like their lives depended on it"
I know everyone's looking up the table but I still always look for that magic 50 points, and we've passed it tonight - something that was by no means certain a few weeks ago. Well done again, another great win for Dychey and the boys!
Im hoping that Dale Bennett will be our first choice centre half next season (If Mapps leaves). Id find it very difficult to watch us with Nosworthy and Tiny hoofing it all game. As for the play-offs, too many teams above us have 1 or 2 games in hand over us, so no chance of play-offs IMO. Id be delighted and very proud if we finished 12th though
Were we that good, or were City just very bad? It seems that we are grinding out results even when we do not play that well. I believe that SD has worked out a system of using average players at this level to get results.
I must admit to being a bit worried when they said on SSN how long it was since we last lost at Ashton Gate, so well done especially as we were minus our captain and vice-captain. What worries me about tonight is that we're the next visitors to Elland Road but we've got Ipswich at the Vic first.
