Sorry, but this is bullshit. Fonte: was one of the better defenders in the league, before he dropped down to league 1 to sign for us. Hooiveld: is one of the best CB's in the league. Fox: is up there with the best LB's and is worth every penny we paid for his assist alone. Schneiderlin: French U21 international and coveted by Arsenal before we signed him, Fulham tried to nab him in Jan 2010 for £4million. (most on here probably won't know that fact) Cork: One of the best CMs in the league, and has history of performing well at this level Lallana: Best player outside the prem whilst in league 1 Guly: Tracked by Roma before signing for us Lambert: Best all round forward in the league Sharp: Historically a top goalscorer at this level
Saints Vs Hull: Davis. Richardson, Fonte(c), Hooiveld, Fox. Puncheon, Schneiderlin, Cork, Lallana. Guly, Lambert
Also good to see Cork back in Hammond. Only thing I'd have done different would have been Sharp rather Guly, but that's solely because Sharp is a better goalscorer and we'll need to take our chances against Hull. Guly is hardly a bad player though, so I'm not annoyed or anything.
It would have been harsh to drop Guly, he was our best player on Saturday imo (if we take out the fact that Rickie scored a hattrick)
You can't just drop Guly ffs. Also Puncheon and his raw power may not be a bad thing today. The pitch looks horrific, why are excessively watering it? going to be very stodgy which won't be a bad thing as it means any pace they have will be redundant. We don't have pace and can play the more direct game and get the lads playing off Lambert.
Interesting to see that Sharp still isn't starting, does that make him our 4th choice striker at the moment? Lambert, Lee, Guly then Sharp? I can understand why Guly has been picked, but I thought Sharp may get his chance. Still looks a strong team and I'm glad to see Puncheon give us some real width, looks like quite an attacking side!
Would have played Guly right mid and Sharp up front, mainly because I'm selfish and want to see Sharp have 90 minutes up front.
The only striker who is likely to get 90 mins is Rickie - the other is likely to get subbed for the striker on the bench, which is Sharp at the moment
It probably explains why our pitch is so dire, which is annoying because it handicaps us more than the opposition because we can't play long ball. (if they went to a fancy dress party Jack Hobbs could be Willy Wonka or Snow White)
