Hello and welcome to the all new and improved Match day Hub which is now the official place for Gillingham fans, I decided to update this so that you will know where to go and chat before and during the game. This is here to replace the match day thread and the Starting Line up Prediction, this is where you will now be able to post all your team predictions and score updates. You can now just spend your match day in one place if you are not at the game. This is the thread for the upcoming game, I always post this thread before each game so that you can express your views on the corresponding fixture and can talk between each other during the game, You can post your team predictions before the game, you may include the starting 11 plus the subs which you think will be in the team, no points awarded for your predictions it is just for fun, it allows you to start a healthy debate between each other about the team which we will play or what it should be. If you wish you can post updates freely about the game and chat between yourselves, you are also free to talk about other games bizarre or not. This is open to both Gillingham fans and also the opposition After the match I will allow you all to create a summary on this thread and I will also provide extra details on the game if they are required or if I want to point anything out. You can talk about what was good about the game and what could have been better. During the game I will update the score and the team sheets as soon as they are available, also at the end I will add the table to this thread as it stands. This is here permanently so you will not see the Match day thread or the starting line up prediction threads as this is them combined.
I am going for a 2-1 win with Obita and Keds scoring your goals. Dons are away to Oxford so we could do you a big favour if we beat them and you beat Crawley. I am at the hospital on Tuesday so i am hoping for wins for Gills and Dons to cheer me up.
My preferred line up Gazza Fishy Essam Kingy Martin Whelps Payne Jackman Obita Kedders Kuffs Subs Hawkes Lee O Framps Evans Miller A bit harsh on Ollie as he by all accounts had a good game on Saturday - but I'd rather have Jacko making the plays in midfield.
Gazza Fish, Essam, King, Martin Whelpdale, Payne, Jackman, Obita Kuffour, Miller Subs Hawkes Evans Frampton O Lee Kedwell Is Oli injured?
More than likely, hobbled off against Cheltenham from what I heard. Can't see too much wrong with that team. Personally I would keep Ollie Lee in my team, solely because of my dislike for Joe Martin of late! Oh, and I'd keep Kedwell in my starting line up as more of a link up player with Jo.
I can't see there being any changes to the Cheltenham team other than Oli. Are you feeling alright brb, Joe Martin?
I think Joe can be a very good player, but defensively he lacks quality, so he would probably come into my midfield, Jackman has done well in defence for me in my eyes.
Funny enough I have not been too well the last week but fighting it off and will be there to watch the Gills Tuesday. Bit of a difficult one for me on selection, I heard O Lee did well Saturday, however, up until that point I have not been impressed. Having read and if I am understanding recent reports correctly, it appears Hessy was not convinced either up until Cheltenham. So until I see otherwise (probably Tuesday), O Lee was not going to make my team selection. Which meant putting Jackman back where he belongs and giving Martin another opportunity. Still, you know me Kentish Man, I will probably be moaning my nuts off about him again come Tuesday evening, last chance saloon if you like. On a separate note I am starting to take to this Obita lad but just need to see a bit more of him. Seems like the sort of player I go for, left winger and a bit physical, although I think we only have him until the end of the month if I am correct. I would have looked more to extending his loan than O Lee's. All in good time I suppose.
Being the closest to a replacement for Barcham we've seen these past two years I would haste to agree brb! Natural wingers, in any team, do well at this level and he could just be that cutting edge going into the playoffs. Not sure on Martin though. Jackman and King have been playing well on the left side, perhaps we shouldn't be so quick to shake things up again!
In my eyes if it isn't broken do not fix it, so Oli would be the only change and that's because it was forced. Our back four are going to have to be on good form to deal with Clarke, Alexander and Torres; whilst having a pretty decent attacking side to his game I think Joe would bring about some instability into that back four. That said I think he'll make the bench so I'm sad to say that Evans may not make the 16. Talking of another Evans, I hope Hess' counterpart keeps himself in check tonight without creating a circus of a facade to make his fans forget about a loss. That said, never feed the troll.
You've very little chance of that - there were 1301 Gills fans ( sharing the few available pies ) who were witnesses on Boxing Day ( & also watched us win the world cup ) Mr.Evans will be given the appropriate welcome !
gazza fish essam king jackman whelps payne o.lee obita kedwell kuffour subs: hawkes evans frampton brown(though martin will be prefered) miller. agreed kentish man, i wouldn't split king and jackman up on the left side of defence either whilst it is working soundly. didn't think i'd want fish back in the team either glad gavin tomlin is also close to a comeback for us, i think he's very much needed for us to succeed this season. hopefully in the next three or four games we will have most players back fighting and wanting promotion...along with the points before those games!!!
This is my team Gazza Fish (I would play Evans but Hess will play Fish) Essam King Jackman Whelpdale Payne O.Lee Obita Kedwell Kuffour Subs Hawkes Evans Martin Brown (But I think Hess will put Frampton on the bench instead) Miller
Hoadie - having read most of the reports to date, it appears that is probably what Hessy will go with. .......................................................... Hopefully O Lee can actually show the home supporters what he has to offer tonight then. As for Martin, just my occasional show of madness! Kuffour is going to have to work for it tonight because he is not going to have any Tomlin chasing around. Keds I still need to be convinced, some fans you can never please and I suppose I am one of them. My player watch tonight though will probably be Obita as Miller is not playing. Fish, whatever, does not bother me knowing Evans can quite easily step in there if a problem.
Think you've got the team spot on there oxon. We have, perhaps, been too quick to write Matt Fish off as a decent right back. I think he has a Plaice in the team
brb - I'm looking forward to the game (as ever). I feel that Obita's running could be crucial - I am not a great Fish fan - and if he plays, we might need to protect him- he had a poor game at their place. For the brief period when Obita was helping the defence on Saturday, he looked very out of place - his natural strength is going forward, and we need to keep the Crawley defence busy. I hope O Lee can continue his improvement (I hope we won't miss his namesake's physical presence.) Overall it is good to see that Gills are coming into form - Just 13 more games ( perhaps including a 3rd World Cup final ?)
Have to admit I am not a fan of Fish as you may have seen but hopefully he has got better as it would be nice to have another player who can do a good job, we will just have to see.
