MARK Hughes has handed Kieron Dyer the chance to prove his fitness at QPR.

The midfielder lasted just seven minutes of his Rs debut against Bolton on the opening day of the season before being stretchered off with a foot injury.

Dyer suffered a further setback when he was on his crocked on his comeback playing in a reserve game against Spurs in December, which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

However, new boss Hughes is ready to offer the 33-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, a Loftus Road lifeline.

He said: “We are hoping he will be fit and ready for pre-season and has the chance to make the 25-man squad.”

He'll probably get in the squad if we're relegated.Unfortunately i think alot of players will depart if we go down, not that Dyer would last long even if he was selected!

Is this a sop to 'doing the right thing' to prevent a complaint to the Premier League??? Presumably players have rights - like an employee that threatens to go to a tribunal etc?

I think he is! Don't see anything wrong in giving him a chance.

Bruce Dyer, Danny Dyer just anyone but him!

You can practically hear a creaky coffin opening every time he gets a mention.

Seriously, we all go on about Clint Hill being too slow and then we're offering lifelines to someone who's a bit too nobbled to make it as an extra in Shaun of the Dead.

    Nooooooooo!

What would we have to lose by giving Dyer a new Pay as you Play Contract with zero basic?

No way did Dyer last 7 minutes, I was there and it was more like 3.

If he last the first few games of the season, gets in the 25 then does 'a keiron dyer' he's wasted a place in the squad.

Nothing more than we would by giving me the same deal. The plusses would be the same too (no cost).

We could sign the queen mother while we're at it.

Seriously, our minimum risk, 10k per week contract has cost us 500k this season.

That's about 70k a minute or 6.5 million per game. Actually, it'll be worse because he'll have got his appearance fee.

My best guess is that he's made close on 15M in 5 seasons for 35 games.

He's also a knob who burns £50 notes while saying "Do you know who I am?"

Not his biggest fan I'm afraid.

" Dyer handed qpr lifeline "

What it doesn't say is he broke his finger catching it.

Good luck KD seriously unlucky and actually looked quite good in the 7 minutes. (preseason was ok to last a couple of 45mins "I think")

He does deserve a chance but keep on pay as you play.
