First of all, credit to all the fans that went and I thought we gave a good accont of ourselves. Score line maybe a bit harsh on the overall balance of play but we were punished for some poor defending. It must be said that the opposition are a notch above anything we'll face in this league and it's certainly a different Chelsea to the one from earlier in the season. Granted we tried to play positively and I commend that but there is a fine line between positivity and naiveity and I think we crossed that today. For instance, every time we attacked we emptied the midfield and left a shed load of space for the counter (see 2nd goal) and Mata ran riot in that space between the midfield and defence. Also, the lack of midfield tracking has been a problem all season and that wa sbrutally exposed and exploited by the runs from the likes of Kalou and Meireles. Bamba was torn to bits by Torres (it was sods law that he'd decide to turn up against us) and I think Pelts will come in for him and SSL going back inside to CB. As for Kasper, he's saved us countless times this season and if he has one bad game every 8 months then that's fine by me. He's still won us so many more points than he's lost us. Going forward we were quite good though. Passed the ball very well and Danns was outstanding as well breaking forward. Whilst I would have expected more in a defensive sense for such a big game, Beckford was always a threat in attack. Superb goal from Marshall as well and hopefully that'll kick start his career here. Overall then, a good game and a good day out and occasion for the club and players. Hopefully we can learn and improve from it and take it into Blackpool in mid-week. That'll be another important game in terms of establishing some much needed consistency and continuity ahead of next season.
Bang on about the second goal - that's the sort of goal you concede in 89th minute when you're desperately trying to equalise, not the 18th minute. Blackpool is another big game, but I'm starting to give up on get results away from home - I'll just be happy not to concede three or more at the minute!
My gran couldve saved that meireless goal! all he had to do was move his fat foot a couple of inch to the right and he wouldve stopped it.
This players that have stood out all season seemed to have bad games, and this is a good thing for us, yet players like Danns, who have been on and off this season played brilliantly. Agree that Gally, Dyer and Wellens seemed off the prem pace, Dyer looks good against championship fullbacks but looked really bad against a pacey prem fullback, but im not going to criticise, because this is a team that was always going to beat us and has cost their owner a **** load of money for silverware. Ive no doubt that they will go on and win the FA cup now
Indeed they were and relaxed at 3-0. Thought Marshall scored the goal of the game to be fair. Nice watch but not as good as the Wolves Man Utd game. Nice derby game for you guys next season by the looks of it.
BS. your gran is ****e, thats why man u. got rid..never been the same since the hip replacement ,but I do hope she gets off with the solicitation charge.....kaspers fat foot never showed up on the medical ,thats typical leeds scum...sold us damaged goods.
He seems to have lost some weight since hes come to you boys, you doing the Adriano diet on him? Locking him in a hotel? Hes still average at goalkeeping though
As wolves is over 55 miles away is it a derby? What distance do people consider a derby and therefore is wolves a derby match?
The nearest we get to derby games are the other Yorkshire clubs, Doncaster(50 miles), Leeds(60 miles), Barnsley(70 miles) and Boro(85 miles), so 55 miles doesn't seem that far to us, though you obviously have a few teams that are much closer.
I think Derby should just be the next city over, i mean it works for us and Derby/Forest Cov dependant on which direction you go. Think that anywhere the other side of the M42 (west side) cant really count as a derby. They have their own derbys that side anyway. WBA, brum, wolves, villa etc all within a very short distance
Wolves isn't a derby to me. They're west midlands. In with WBA, Villa, Birmingham and *just* Coventry. We've got Forest, Derby, Cov and *just* Peterborough.
Greatness Agree other than on Beckford - he is only effective when directly in front of goal - his first touch is so poor that against better opposition he resorts to first time flicks that mostly lose us possession - unfortunately. He will score goals but he is not effective in linking up play.
In the first half if Beckford had a better first touch he would of scored If his first touch was better he easily would have at least 5 more goals
But is it like when people moan about pacey players like Kebe/Adomah having no end product? Well no they dont, but if they did they would be in the premier league, thats why they are playing at the level that they are. Not saying it is the same, but if he had a better touch then he would be in the premier league and thats why he has dropped to the championship?
This and his work rate. His finishing, his movement and his pace are all high end Prem class. But his work rate and his touch lets him down too much. He's the kind of player who could have 3 touches in a game and score 3 goals, and do **** all else
They are West Midlands, we are East Midlands - separate counties that are next to each other but have the same name due to a lack of imagination so many hundreds of years ago. Would be like saying that games between Hull and Lincoln are derbies.
Yeah maybe. Although to be fair, he was playing the lone striking role which we know he doesn't like. He is more suited to using his pace to run onto things than holding and linking up the play. Actually, considering he didn't decide to turn up until January, he's done well to get 12 goals for the season - only 2 behind Nugent.
Like alot of talented players who have played for Leeds over the last few seasons, he didn't want to hang around. Why is that? Leeds is a selling club remember.
