Whitejock, I have never particularly thought highly of Becchio. I liked the fact that he scored goals and that was enough for me but his work rate has dropped too much and the goals he scores is no longer enough to satisfy me. His overall game means that very few chances are created. Keogh, I liked because of his overall game and I think I exaggerated his ability slightly but he is a better option, I'm not necessarily looking for us to sign Keogh, I just want us to sign someone to replace Becchio. Just because we have no one better doesn't mean your not allowed to judge his performances. And people seem a bit blinded to him for some reason, thats only on this board though. Almost every leeds fan I have spoken to this season thinks he is a liability and I just don't understand why he is so overrated.
While he has had some mixed performances this season, if you tic the fact he missed pre season he has still scored 9 goals in 20 starts, he may not be the greatest player but he will do for me, he does hold the ball up well, although he needs to work on certain aspects of his game, if a decent cross is put in you know he will try and get on the end of it. The goal against Donny to win it was class.
Josh if you're arguing that Becchio needs replacing to solve all our problems, it's an argument you're never going to win with the defence we've got.
I guarantee Becchio's shortcomings this season are part recovery, and part spending most of their time in training working on defence. There's absolutely no way our defence is playing as well as it has been doing without spending a lot of time working on it in training, something that has been proven time and again when Grayson shifted the focus, the defence improved but the goals dried up. If we had any defenders that didn't need constantly reminding how to do their jobs properly, then training sessions could be more balanced and our attacking play would improve from something that is already pretty good. When we're focusing heavily on defending in training, our attacking players can still just about score goals because they are what the defence should be - talented professionals who know what their jobs are and go about their business without having to be asked. Get defenders of the same standard in and you've got the potential for a team that will run away with the league. Anyone else thinking Danny Webber is an absolute revelation?
I think Webber's been decent, and a success considering he was free, but he's not had enough final product to be considered a "revelation" IMO.
He got the corner that led to our goal on Saturday. I think he's been a bit unlucky really, everything he's done has looked promising, and if it weren't for a super human Kelvin Davis he'd have had his "final product". Players have been forgiven for playing much worse coming back after a long spell out.
Hmm, I'll stop however as I said, the majority of leeds fans I have spoken to this season away from this board has agreed with my view on Becchio. I just cannot believe what I read about him on here and it is so biased its ridiculous. I promise never to bring it up again.... But regarding Webber, he has impressed me massively. I have to admit I said openly i doubt he'll do anything of note and was pointless signing but I couldn't have been more wrong. He has been great and doesn't look like he's been out of football for a year or 2
I know, it's stupid to be so biased for a player who looks like he is set to get over 10 goals in every season he's played for us aswell as his many assists and the loyalty he's shown to the club.
Just because he scores goals, doesnt mean his overall game is any good. Just because he is loyal doesnt mean he is a good player. I can't believe how many people on here are so tunnel visioned in what makes a good striker. 1. I've been in england for over 1 month this season. 2. There is a hell of a lot of Leeds fans in Australia actually Im not saying I have spoken to as many as I would find in leeds but its still a valid point

He gets goals and assists, and IMO there isn't another player in the squad that can hold the ball up like he can. You can't really ask much more of a centre forward.
There isn't another striker in the squad that can do that better than he can. Therefore we must look outside the squad. I've always said he gets the goals, just not much else
Can you confirm please that this is the same Josh that said Forssell was a 'Good' signing and who said we should keep Keough despite him scoring NONE in his last 10 for us and supplying ZERO assists and despite us NOT scoring a goal in the last ten games while he was on the pitch?
25 years ago, there was a large section of the crowd at ER that were not keen on the donkey we had up front then. Some donkey was Chapman! Becchio is of a different mould, but still derided by those that don't see him week in week out. He has taken a little time to get back to his best this season after injury, but let's not forget, he only really came back into the team when Keogh left, and a major part of his game is to be whacked mercilessly (and to offer the same back) by huge lumping centre halves. His control, both of the ball and of his temper, is admirable, as is his desire to make the life of any opposition defender hell. Keep it up Luciano
