Well said Hampy, I agree whole heartedly! Just read on BBC website Fabrice showing slight signs of improvement!
its been a bad enough weekend as it was... this has done nothing to help. i'm very angry about this and with whoever did it, no matter who they support. some people really do need to use their loaf a bit more
I'd hate for this to get out of hand and effect our relationship with Newcastle fans. I always enjoy the toon army coming to carrow road and combining a night out with Newcastle with a day out at stjames park is a pilgrimage all city fans shOuld undertake. Some of the friendliest fans you'll ever meet the Geordies, always up for a chat and a laugh. I'd hate for that to be tarred by this incident. I think we all can appreciate why this is such a sensitive subject. I appreciate the level headedness of the response from Ipswich and Newcastle fans alike. An emotive subject like this can easily provoke a reaction but I think we're united in common sense here.
Agreed Overall this hasn't been a good season for football. From the riots at the football game in Egypt to the racism. Really shows that teams, players, fans and football governing bodies still have a lot of work to do.
Don't forget Middlesborough fans could be involved too as they play in that part of the UK and are another one of Newcastle's rivals, and may be jealous of their success as they are in the Championship. Disgusted to hear about what happened, hope it wasn't one of our fans, dont believe it was as Norwich fans are not known for causing trouble.
There was serious violence at the weekend in greece aswell between olympiakos and panothanikos and had to be abandond! Its a shame that theres mindless idiots out there, who are more interested in defacing a legend rather than sparing a thought for a young player whos fighting for his life, how i would just love to give them a damn good smack in the face!!!
I would like to echo Beefy's excellent post on this thread! We are all up for a bit of banter but we are also inteligent enough to know where the lines are drawn. Although we have our banter I would also suggest that Delia is also an iconic figure who is above all the cut and thrust of local rivalry!
This is a bit of a non story really in fine Grub Street tradition. Some idiot with a marker pen drew a nude figure,When I read the headline I thought sledge hammer and broken statue.I was a regular at Portman Rd in the Robson days and used to alternate between the two clubs when it was a fiver to get in.99% of fans respect what Robson achieved.
This is disgraceful behaviour and I hope whoever is the culprit receives a lifetime ban from his club. Anyway, I heard a rumour it was Shola Ameobi...
Looks like Nu Mad has made up his mind who is responsible Especially like th 'in-bred' comment, never heard that before. Fact is, no-one knows who did this it's pure assumption. Us City fans have reputation to uphold and I can honestly say that I don't know anyone who would stoop this low. Years ago we gave Sir Bobby stick because he was Town's manager but at the same time respected what he achieved with Ipswich. We all hated it at the time, God I'll never forgive Arsenal for losing that final ! However, when Sir Bobby took over as England manager we all got behind his team, especially at Italia '90. I for one do not want my football club associated with this and I'm bloody angry ! http://www.newcastleunited-mad.co.u..._deface_sir_bobby_memorial_735401/index.shtml
The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation has said they do not believe City supporters are responsible for the vandalism to the Bobby Robson memorial garden - hope they get whoever is responsible and City fans receive an apology from those who accused them.
Can picture this guy. Jonny Vegas lookalike, 26 stone, burger eating, builders bum jeans twat who sleeps in his club shirt as thats all he's got in his life. Trouble is I would be as prejudiced as him wouldn't I.
