Personally, I think your moving the goal posts PMK. He said he thinks an Liverpool v Everton game would be fitting and that he thought that would be what we wanted. Before our game, he didn't know that the winners of us against Stoke would be playing the winners of their game and, as an Evertonian, he wanted Liverpool to lose. I can see the logic in that!
I would prefer Sunderland because I think Everton are a better side than them but if we did get Everton it would be good for the city of Liverpool to have both teams at Wembley.
I don't think PMK is moving the goalpoats at all. This is what Shogun originally posted " You should wnt us just for the occasion. " So we should want them to beat Sunderland 'for the occasion' but they wouldn't have wanted us to beat Stoke 'for the occasion'. PMK is spot on
this is simple. 1. when presented with the "derby" then of course everyone should have a great time in the build up etc. 2. when presented with wanting your team to go to the final you want the EASIEST possible draw ever.... which in this case we've bascially gotten all home draws and while there's two prem tesm in the 4 matches so far we've won them... a semi v everton who we know we can play in a venue we know what its about now? I'd take that as easiest draw seeing chelsea and tottenham may well be in the other half of the semis. Had we seen stevenage i'd say i'll have that thanks. 3. everton fans make the mistake of projecting their feelings onto us. Not many reds give a hoot what everton do but everton being the "small club" really want to see us come down to their level or worse to make them feel good. the seem to project that wanting others to fail onto us.
I think i'd rather play Everton than Sunderland. O'Neill has them playing some good stuff and are a better team than Everton at the moment I believe. I'd then rather have Chelsea in the final over Spurs (assuming they beat Bolton). If we win the FA Cup as well then I'd say a very successful season. Not much different between finishing 5th ot 7th to be honest so league is pretty irrelivant for the rest of the season.

What a great observation!
Really? So he wakes up on saturday hoping Everton beat Sunderland and reach the semi(unfortunately for him they did'nt)and not caring who they play as long as they get there,he wakes up on sunday hoping Liverpool get beat by Stoke(as he openly admitted) therefore not wanting a derby in the semi or the final,he then on monday says we should want Everton to beat Sunderland for an all Merseyside semi-final. If you think thats not hypocritical fine. But its a simple case of him wanting his cake and eating it.
Being a doctor to Aurelio he is getting injured too frequently, you need God's hand to heal him. I am giving you an idea.!
Not at all, the 'occasion' wasn't food for thought when we played Stoke, the draw was made after the game finished!
Woh! Don't put words in my mouth! I merely understand the angle he is coming from. He didn't want us to win because the draw had not been made and he (I presume) does not liek to see Liverpool win. However, their game was a draw and therefore they face a replay. In the mean time, the draw for the semi's was made so we now know who will face who once the replays have been played. Therefore, IMO, his attitude can change because he now knows who the opponents will be. Plus the fact that he said he thought we would want everton to win to mark the 'occasion'. IMO, this is quite right. Was not intended on causing any problems so apologies if I have
No probs mate it was all said in jest. Plus Shogun knows i was messing about,i was trying a little reverse bitterness on him.
I haven't got a problem with you either mate - but it is hypocritical not to want us to win yet expect us to want them to win - whether there was an 'occasion' on the cards or not.
Everton, all day long for me. Anyway, Black cats have a voodoo doll of Reina and it works nearly every game!
