Pratley totally unmarked right in front of goal, Klasnic clean through with the whole of the goal to aim at. Which are you saying was Kenny's error, Flyer - or is it both?
Im saying he didnt make a save because hes so immobile that he never gets anywhere near a shot thats not straight at him. Anyone who watches games knows thats true. In the last 5 games (3 against the bottom 5 and 2 in the bottom half), hes let in 50% of shots on goal and they even count the 30 yard dribbler as a shot on goal. In the same time weve had 29 shots on goal and scored 5 times. The other goalies are 6 times more likely to make a save than Kenny. The stats match up what anyone can see, Kenny is the prime reason we are going down. He could have come for the cross to Pratley but as always didnt move Goalies make great saves every game, I cant think of a single one kenny has made since he replaced Cerny. I could stand there not bothering to get near anything thats not straight at me too an not make any errors. It doesnt mean Id be a competent goalie.
I can't believe I'm posting this but Flyer might be right. The stats seem to back him up too. http://balancedsports.blogspot.co.uk/p/premiership-goalkeeper-stats-valid-may.html I do take on board the points about the defence in front of him, but I can't remember the last difficult save he's made. Even behind the dodgiest defence a fully fit keeper at the top of their game will pull out one or two game-savers from time to time. Something ain't right and maybe Cerny is worth a try.
This was always a part of my reasoning for sticky with Paddy, however with Hill at centre back is this now so important? Clint is a natural leader and will organise the back line and keep them all alert. My other worry about Cerny is his lack of bottle as highlighted against Leeds last season, Kenny would not have let in their first goal.
No, play Cerny, him not risking his career in a meaningless game means nothing. Play Cerny and if he keeps us his previous form, play Murphy. Kenny should have been sent to surgery as soon as his problem was diagnosed, he would probably have been fully fit by now. Not doing that was a massive, massive mistake and one that will cost us very dear.
Fascinating statistics: show Kenny has second lowest saves/shots ratio. Proves what many of us thought.
The problem I have with the statistics is that if you are a keeper behind a competent defence, you'll hopefully be saving or attempting to save shots on the edge of or outside the box- which gives you a better chance and improves your average. A poor defence often means trying to save point blank If you take the statistic that telford put up literally, the bottom clubs should theoretically be saying - hell, if we change our goalkeeper we'll rise up the league. We all know it's not that simple.
It is that simple when you watch Kenny beating beaten easily by a 30 yard daisy cutter like Everton scored. Look at the games lost by a 1 goal margin, weve lost more than 10 points by playing Kenny. The defence is stopping most chances but most chances they let up go in thanks to extremely poor goalkeeping. its not like we are doing a wolves where changing the goalie would solve nothing. If we had any other goalie, wed be safe. Cerny had far better stats in the same team against difficult opposition.
The man has the physique more of a sumo wrestler than an athlete. Not good enough in this day and age.
I hear what you guys say. I shall be scrutinizing Paddy's performance tomorrow night - if he plays...
Just watch how immobile he is and how often he is rooted to the spot any time a shot comes in. He also take an age to get down to any shots, quite a feat for someone carrying so much weight! If he makes a great save or 2, Ill admit it but Im not counting on it.
According to those Stats, Paul Robinson is the worst Keeper in the league. Really? There's lies, damn lies and then there's....................
Its pretty obvious you dont go to games as youd know Kenny easily takes that "honour". The stats would also prove that if we could get them from the time he replaced Cerny.
If there is a shot on goal which isn't strait at him it's going in. Look over the goals we have given away this season and then look at some of the saves against us. E.G Vorm's save against Taarabt
Ach Flyer, if you look above I've said since Cerny got in the team that he should have been kept in Just saying that Stats can be a load of crap depending which way you juggle them,
If they are not backed up by anything else then yes, but anyone can see Kenny has been abysmal and the defence has only been allowing 1 or 2 chances per game and theyve all been scored leaving us to get 2 or 3 goals every game for a win.
You only have to look at Cerny v liverpool last time, he made more saves in that game than kenny has since then in every game combined.
I have to admire your consistency, can I just ask a couple of questions? Do you think that Cerny would have come for the cross? I donât remember him being a commanding keeper, I think that he would have stayed at home too. Iâd disagree here, if those thoughts are going through his mind he shouldnât be playing. His focus should be totally on the game and making the save. Would you not agree? This is totally logical, so for neither Warnock or Hughes to do this there must be something going on that we are not aware of. It has been suggested that Cerny is also still injured. Didnât we try to get an emergency loan keeper and the FA wouldnât let us? Kenny may be the least injured goalie.
