As I said it was definately against the law, not sure if it still is. No idea how they were/are going to enforce it. However the religious principles mean more to me than the legal ones

Martyrdom has an obvious connection with suicide because it's intentionally and knowingly putting yourself into harms way.
The obvious difference is that you probably wouldn't be welcoming that harm.

I disagreed with your definition of people's sexuality, so I'm not sure why you've asked me how I think it can be sanctioned.
