Apparently, a memorial garden near St James Park was vandalised over the weekend. A stone portrait of the great man was defaced. According to the local press up here, Norwich fans are suspected, due to Sir Bobby's links with Norwich's bitter rivals, Ipswich Town. Any word about this, down there?
Is there any proof it was Norwich fans, or are the local press putting two and two together and coming up with five? Just to say, whoever done it, Norwich fan or not, its a moronic thing to do.
Can't speak for all city fans but I would never do anything like that and I don't know anyone who would. Totally disgraceful if true and I can only offer an appology as a Norwich City fan if it was anything to do with us.
Munster! I've already posted on your board, if it was "Norwich fans" they will find no friends in this camp! Sir Bobby was an absolute legend who has crossed every barrier with his goodwill, he is the only subject that will find us and the binners stood shoulder to shoulder in his adoration! If they are found, or even if they're not, I hope they rot in hell!
Good point Dave Sir Bobby is the only person that Norwich and Ipswich supporters can truly honour without any tribal prejudice. IF a few sick individuals did do such a despicable thing they definately were not representative of Norwich fans as a whole.
People who do things like that are idiots, not fans. Unfortunately, such idiots associate themselves with football clubs, and besmirch the reputation of the club they profess to love. It's only conjecture at present that Norwich "fans" are responsible. Ineed, most NUFC fans have expressed doubts that Norwich fans would do such a thing, as we have never had problems with you in the past. Even if it turns out to be the case that one of your lot was responsible, don't worry. Every club has such idiots, and one can only hope that whoever was responsible is found, and the appropriate punishment handed out. Anyway. Best of luck for the rest of the season....as long as you don't catch us up. Lol.
i've honestly never met a norwich fan who had a bad word to say about sir bobby robson. the man was totally respected by norwich fans despite his career at ipswich.
I'll remind you delia is an devoted patron to the sir bobby trust. I don't think I've ever met a Norwich fan who didn't like sir bobby, certainly none that hate him, He was England manger as well after all. It could well have been Norwich fans, could have been someone else, but they certainly don't speak for us. Bobby was a true great.
Maybe a clever Sunderland fan thought he would do it as we were visiting - we would get the blame because of our link to Ipswich. Although, I really wouldn't be surprised if it was a Norwich fan, because as has already been said, every club have their idiots.
What makes this story even more grotesque is this happening the day after a young talented footballer was struck down and now fighting for his life. This weekend should have all been about football being united not divided!
It's such a senseless crime. My gut says this wasn't a city fan but I wouldn't rule it out entirely as every club has its twats. Hope they catch whoever did it. I would suggest any fine resulting from this to be made as a donation or other contribution to the sir bobby robson foundation as a punishment, very worthy cause.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-Bobby-Robson-memorial-garden-vandalised.html Unfortunately yes!
TWTD are reporting the same story and Phil the editor of the fanzine is usually spot on with his news stories. He isn't saying that the vandalism was done by Norwich fans but the vandalism unfortunately is true.
that is truly disgusting then. whoever it was should be totally ashamed. i find it hard to believe a norwich fan would do this but if they did i hope they get caught. keep us posted on what is happening
As a life long Norwich City supporter, I can honestly say with my hand on my heart, that Sir Bobby Robson transended all divides, in life as well as football. I was lucky enough to meet this gentleman on 3 occasions, he always had time to chat and show interest in what you were doing, as well as giving everything his 100% attention. If Norwich City people did this, then hang your heads in shame, we want nothing to do with you! ILD OTBC
I just posted this on Warky's thread on the Ipswich board and you chaps have no reason to be ashamed. That is shocking behaviour, particularly at this time, we can console ourselves that as they undertook this mindless act these idiots, if they were Norwich fans, were confronted with the UEFA and FA Cup staring straight up at them. I refer specifically to those idiots as I know that there is nobody who would conceive of such an act on the other side of these boards. I would like to propose that for the remainder of this season we join our feathered friends in debating football matters as one and restrain from any baiting or trading of insults and hope that our positive thoughts are all filtering through to Fabrice.
