Am I missing something here, or has Radek Cerny turned into a world class keeper? How come everybody prefers him to PK? I know PK isn't on the top of his game right now, but as I remember and was proved against Man United, Cerny has the reflexes of a 75 year old lady.

He did have a good game against Liverpool away, and certainly kept us in it, but am I the only one who'd feel safer with PK in goal?

He made some great saves and terrible blunders v United and that's the way he's always been. The fact is though, he got his chance when Fatty got injured and did enough to keep his place IMO.

When you have that **** defence in front of you it can you look poor at last Kenny has stopped pumping it up field .. He now roll's it out to our defenders and they give it away

Paddy Kenny hasnt made a half decent save since he came back from injury, he cant dive and hes now got the kicking power of a school boy who can hardly reach the halfway line.

Cerny hasnt become world class, Kenny has become the worst keeper in the league (and I include all 4 divisions in that.)

Paddy's particularly vulnerable low to his left. How many have we conceded that way now?

I think both keepers have fitness issues, it's proving costly as there have been several goals in the past few matches that an established PL keeper would have saved...

The difference is it didnt affect Cernys performance. Its got to the point where its like we are playing with an outfielder in goal, Kenny is that bad and playing him will be the difference is us going down or staying up.

Totally agree with Brix that since his weird injury Paddy has been vulnerable to low shots to his left, which I’m guessing is the same side as his muscle sprain… He’s been the shadow of his former self really. Also, as the venerable Mr Jesus says, he just pumps the ball aimlessly up field far too often (which, to be fair, is something he’s always done). However, at least he talks to his defenders and makes his presence felt, which is more than Cerny does. For me, although he’s a decent enough keeper, Cerny just doesn’t have that big presence between the sticks, plus he’s getting on a bit. Time to give this Murphy fella a run??

The trouble we have with our keepers is that they don't score enough. I can't ever remember a Rangers keeper banging one into the back of the onion bag. Personally I would sign Dionisis Chiotis of Apoel Nicosia, although he is 34, he saves loads of penalties and is a bit of a character. He reminds me of John Burridge.

Let's bring back Higuita, there's a keeper that can dribble through the pitch and score, and we might see the famous "scorpion" too... <nahnah>

Wasnt there a Chiliean or Parayuan keeper that scored near on 50 goals for his club/country as he was the FK and penalty taker?

Ago doesnt matter now, especially as Murphy will not be here anyway after the summer. Id rather have a bit of confusion through lack of presence that literally every shot 3 feet wide of the keeper going in.
Id even play Tranni ahead of Kenny.

That must be right: Paddy the mircle worker of last season is looking a shadow of his former self this season. Unfortunately, he's got to suffer in silence 'cos you can't tell the world that your first choice keeper is injured and has trouble diving to one side or stretching for crosses.

I wonder how many other Premiership keepers would thrive in front of our back four and with Barton "I can't be bothered to track back" Barton in midfield.

No matter if we stay up or go down the first thing our manager (who ever it may be) needs to do is sort out the goal keepers. We need a decent replacement for both Paddy and Cerny, if the current owners stick with us they need to get this right.

I agree that no keeper would have an easy time of it with our porous defence.

José Luis Chilavert from Paraguay scored 52 goals for club and country, retired now.

Rogério Ceni from Brazil has scored 49 goals, 39 but still active for one of the best teams in the world Sao Paolo. Maybe worth a punt? What a weapon to have when your keeper can chip in with a couple of goals each season :)

Thats got nothing to do with it, every shot goes in and the only way to keep a clean sheet is to allow zero shots on goal which is virtually impossible. Bolton, 2 shots, 2 goals zero saves. That says it all and its happening every week.

The stats and my eyes say Barton is covering the most ground of all our players, so he must be "Track back Barton"!

Com on Flyer he made an easy save or two against Bolton, and I don't think many keepers would have saved the two he let in ! But I don't understand either why he hasn't been benched for Cerny ages ago - makes me suspect Cerny isn't fit enough either.
