I agree with Queenslander. It regularly happens that when a Club builds a great new Stadium, it attracts far more fans than the old dilapidated one. Cardiff being a recent example. Build the facilities and they will come. Its all tied in with success however so it would certainly help if we was in the Prem.
Unproven and noone will build / finance a new stadium on wishful thinking. If we win the CL then it would be a different issue but then again...
Cracking luch today, just rolled back in. I can reccomend tapas, especially the octopus with salted boiled potato. I see no reason to leave the land of my fathers (Loftus Road) if (and yes I know the jury's out on this one) we go down it'll be just fine. Ask my mate Swords he'll concur. Managed to pick some Arabica beans up from Costco on the way back so the afternoon has been mildly salvaged.
The reason why we cant fill this one is its very uncomfortable for anyone whos not a midget, there are several thousand restricted views and you struggle to but 2 seats together. Now we dont mind it being cramped as were already hooked but if a family goes to see a game and its literally painful to watch (in the upper loft for example) then they are not going to come back, ditto if theres a big support blocking the goal. Clubs put on at least 5k with a new stadium even if they play at the same level.
Can't see the point of getting a new stadium at all in fact I used to prefer it when i had a few seats to myself. Better still I am looking for a new club to support as this one is broken.
I concur Wubba. A sh*t Stadium for a sh*t League is fine. If a miracle happens however and we stay up, we must build.
Roller, have a look at This is My England's 'no one likes us, we don't care' thread. I think the OP and link is the kind of thing you're after. Really interesting stuff. Don't read the rest of the thread though, it's sh*t, exactly proving your point, as a depressingly large number are today.
Oddball, your self flagellation is exceeding my expectations. I bet you're wearing a Cilice around your leg too. Keep it up son. And remember, no pain no gain.
Why not just go straight to the pitches on Wormwood Scrubs? If we can afford the fees to the council of course.
i hear there is a spare pitch at boston manor on sundays or failing that, rectory park.....great food at the macca's though !
We only have to stay there for 90+ mins and I do know a lot of huge lumps not minding that situation at all. On the other hand I do know a lot of these fancy stadiums without any atmosphere at all. Anyway, a new stadium would only mean that ticket prices will go up noticeably - didn´t we all moan about that at the start of season ? But worst of all - we would have to move somewhere else, the end of QPR in my point of view.
It is well proven that a new stadium leads to bigger gates. Reading being one example. As has been pointed out facilities and comfort play a huge part. Just because we cant fill 18k every week is not a reason to say we shouldnt get a new stadium. Did we not get 30k in Loftus Road in the past before all seater stadia came in? That shows the fanbase is there, and being in London helps us even more.
Why would ticket prices go up? If anything theyd go down because of the supply and demand rule, especially for the lesser matches or if we are in the NPC. Atmosphere is not just dependant on the stadium, theres a great atmosphere at the new german grounds but Anfield was near silent when we played there.
We sell out all the non diabolical views every game, once we reach 13-14k of home fans, you cant buy a seat in a pair or without an obstructed view. if the club had any sense, theyd try to move the STH along to free up pairs of seats, theres at least 5 single seats within 3 yards of me.
We're another, ours went up by 1/3 (9-12k at the time) and we moved ground midseason in a season that saw us midtable for pretty much the whole of it so there's no issue of improved performance on the pitch or promotion/relegation tensions being responsible for the increase in gates, and that was ignoring the first couple of games that saw virtual sell out crowds.
Better refreshments including facilities and service. 'Warm-up' bods to warm the atmosphere and get people chanting and singing.
