All I can say is good luck my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, and how does a fit footballer, who has checkups regularly have a heart attack, especially at 23 years of age, its not bloody right.
Well there was a statement made about reminding young players to get their hearts scanned and checked regularly. Obviously must have neglected that bit.
Best wishes and thoughts to him and his family. Unfortunately, anyone's body can give out at any time. Friend of mine was a top-level amateur local volleyball player. She went to training wiht a little bit of a cold but sadly did not come back. Undiagnosed hole in heart. But she had lived life to the full. Let's hope Fabrice can actually come back to football in some way
Bit harsh? Whether he should've checked it or not is irrelevant for the time being, a very promising footballer and an extremely fit player has just collapsed on the pitch and is fighting for his life. I think I speak for everyone when I say I hope to God he pulls through, and is lucky enough to come back to football in some capacity.
That didn't come across correctly. Point being he may not have been getting checked. I am by no means claiming it was his own fault, just that most young players probably think they're in such good shape they don't need to get checked.
Fair enough Marko, my mistake It's just a terrible shame that it's probably the end of his career (although hopefully not his life) at such a young age. I've always rated Muamba as well, has a brilliant back story too.
Well presumably he has a heart defect, like people are saying someone that age in that good shape wouldn't have a heart attack unless there was a problem somewhere. Depending on what it is, it may be fixable without any long term damage, and then he'll just have to go through recovery and he'll be good to play again. Unfortunately that's rarely how things work out, and that will most likely be the end of his career.
Too true pal, god willing he makes it, and you only have too look as far as Kanu, who has a hole in his heart, so there is a good chance he can get back too playing again.
In the 1970s Leeds almost acquired a player from Man City - Asa Hartford, until they discovered he had a hole in his heart. He did not come to Leeds but continued to play without any issues, as far as I know. I wish Fab a speedy recovery.
All the best to him and I hope he makes a recovery. I saw it on Sky Sports News and it brought back horrible memories of when Marc-Vivien Foe died whilst playing for Cameroon
Jonny, Asa Hartford was actually playing for WBA when we had an offer accepted for him, only for the deal to fall through after the medical revealed he had a hole in his heart as you rightly say. It was 1972 I believe, and he was to be the long term successor to Bremner. Manchester City took a chance on him, and he went on to have a long and illustrious career with them as well as Scotland.
Thanks for straightening that out LIE. Leeds fans Marching On Together for a speedy and full recovery for Fabrice Muamba!
