my gunners have been terrible and i can safely say that since the wenger era started that this is the worst collection of players ive seen but yet they are in 4th.
I agree that there has been a fall off, in the domination of British clubs in Europe, and there are a number of reasons for this, firstly that under new financial prudence limits being brought in, clubs have to reduce their debt, and are capped to the percentage they can spend, a good thing in the long run, but it takes a few seasons to adjust to the money limits that are going to be the norm, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manu, are all gearing towards a different model, where the money will be better accounted for. Secondly there has been a new breed of investors (Yanks) who are only there to take out of the clubs, examples of Derby County, Liverpool, and Manu. Chelsea on the other hand are the opposite model, where money seems always to be the answer, who are now joined by Man City, but whatever the winds of change bring, that didn't stop Swansea City beating Money bags Man City, or Arsenal, or for that matter getting results against Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs etc! So while clubs go through ups and downs in performance, we can only play what's put before us, and whether these top teams play well or not, it takes nothing away from what my team Swansea City have achieved this year, Iron sharpens Iron, so whether next year will be tougher or not, the Mighty Swans will meet the challenge and overcome, the question is, Will you be there Bluebirds!.................... please log in to view this image
Well done for getting this thread back on track lads and trying to talk about football (see JH is turning on his fellow fans now - couldn't make it up could you!) Guess I am going to get the usual JH abuse for saying that, but have always found Bluebird to be a decent sort - and there is no doubting that he is a passionate fan! Agree that the Premier top guns have been absolute pants in Europe this season, and have also had some shocking results against some of the less glamorous teams in the Premier League; think some of the millionnaires who play for these clubs need to take a long hard look at themselves. But the likes of us and Norwich can only play what is put before us and I don't think it takes anything away from what we have done. Cardiff can also be very proud of the way they aquitted themselves against the so called 'big boys' of Liverpool - from what I saw there didn't seem to be anything between the two teams, and in my opinion Cardiff were the best side on the night! So good luck for the rest of your season, hopefully you will get promotion and go on to prove that the so called 'massive gulf' between the Championship and the Premier League is just a myth perpetuated by an English media that wants it to remain an 'old boys' club!
phil and cartoonhead i wouldnt argue with what youve just said....maybe slightly with phils but im not gonna pull hairs <wink>.....your totally correct you can only play them infront of you on the day and you havnt done 2badly against the bigger teams and i for one am happy 2 see how smaller clubs show hunger more than the bigger clubs and get results. cheers cartoonhead for the best wishes im sure we will get there soon and at present im not at all put off by the teams that currently hold places from 8th downwards,we could and would compete with this lot if luck goes our way and we reach promotion some time over malky`s contract
Malky has been a breath of fresh air - think he is a perfect match for Cardiff and reminds me a lot of Rodgers; he's got you playing as a true team and is a thoroughly likeable guy! If you don't do it this season, am convinced Malky will take you up at some point - so good luck and let's get this Premier League derby sorted some time soon!
Wales Grand Slam: Fantastic Swans beating Fulham away: Superb Newport getting to a Wembley final: Great stuff. Cardiff fans turning on the dog turd that is John Hughs? PRICELESS!!!!!
Aber dude, your in 9th place, and just two points of Blackpool in the play-offs, with a game in hand! How much do you boys want the Prem? Nows the time to get behind your team, and make your ground a fortress, you from here on in need to be the 12th man, and raise the spirit of your players, to carry them over the winning line!................... please log in to view this image
