Has anyone noticed how the City away fans are changing these days? My wife pointed it out first. She was saying how much more attractive the travelling tigers are becoming, especially the women. Not only that but they seem to be wearing more expensive clothing and there are more southern sounding tigers fans there (her words, and she is a southerner). Yesterday was the first time that I'd heard a chant of "South coast tigers" in response to "East Hull tigers". Are City fans becoming more middle class or is just when the southern softie "ex-pats" get together at the southern games? I'd agree about the amount of well-dressed attractive female tigers supporters at Selhurst Park yesterday. Thoughts?
speak for yourself. I have been known to make people cry just by staring at them. The US didn't want to give me a green card at first as I didn't meet aesthetic standards. but when I convinced them that I could but a couple of stones on they relented as obese baldies are a special case.
Lets be fair even if they are middle class does that make them not good fans? I personally class myself as being well brought up having gone through private school and now many more middle class supporters, however they still pay the same amount of money as lower class supporters, they where still there in our Boothferry park days like myself and we still all love a sing song at an away game. I just find stereotyping supporters is wrong, as stated by the police when fans are often arrested abroad they tend to be some accountants, solicitors etc thrown in there. So i think we all need to look at ourselves for a poor atmosphere at times.
I may be wrong but I dont think he was criticising / questionning these supposed middle class fans, he was merely observing. Obviously I could be wrong here. Surprised the fans were so good looking and I wasnt even there. It'll be off the scale at my next southern away game...
after the 'adventure' that myself and three fellow ugly badly dressed northerners had getting to the game and back yesterday, I will never be going to that ****hole again. So I am sure the Southern Supporters fashion parade can continue without us ugos spoiling the party i ve also noticed that these Southern adventures are rapidly becoming 'quiet' affairs with most trained in the plastic prem way as fewer people stand and sing. Worrying I suppose but its a price to pay for retaining these 'beautiful people'.
I find it quite interesting that just because the " women are attractrive " and they are dressing in expensive clothes and speak with a southern accent, this alone defines the "south coast tigers" as middle class ?
I think the northern women are a lot better looking, apart from the woman sat behind me who had a deeper voice than her husband, tbf she was rough and laughed Like a claxon. she must have been bought up in a working men's club, as for the babe next to me she could have been march the 18th , absolute top drawer, I never knew you could see so much through a city shirt. I should of taken a sly picture, but now stalking carries a prison sentence it didn't seem a good idea. Maybe next time I'll get her name and add her to facebook and look thru the pictures , dosn't seem so bad that way lol.
and there was me thinking that the 'get your t i t s out for the lads' chant was aimed at the cheerleaders in the box to the right. i now see it was us northerners admiring our 'royal' southern bretheren
As one of those South Coast Tigers who stood and sung throughout the game. I must point out that there is a very large supporter group in London and the South. Four of us travelled up together. We met up with loads of supporters in the Weatherspoons in Thornton Green. The Brighton game was the first time that I noticed a difference in the appearance of the ladies at a match. It isn't a class thing, but dare I say, it is a day out rather than just going to the match and dressing up seems to be the thing to do. The other thing was that we did not wear colours yesterday, Southampton where at Millwall and we did not want to get caught out.
I enjoyed the "do you take it up the arse" chants that were aimed at a group of birds at the Bolton match a few seasons a go.
What I was meaning was that there seems to be a general change in the supporters (not saying if that is a good or bad thing). There seems to be more tigers fans recruiting southern partners but also the northern ladies are scrubbing up better than previously. It was only a few years back that just a couple of attractive ladies in the crowd was very rare. Now we are surrounded by attractives tigeresses! Also the blokes are dressing better (according to the wife). Are we becoming more middle class or is it just everyone is getting better dressed?
I think there's a vague suggestion amongst all of this that the addition of a few southern fans has somehow ramped up the overall class of our support. I could be wrong. Though it seems a little snobbish to me. It's as if southerners, as a rule of thumb, are by their very nature more fashionable than northerners. A generalisation. And an opinion. Also, football ain't about fashion. Thankfully, for me. It would warm my heart if one of these 'better dressed' folk turned around with a big "urrr nurrr a gurrrl" and were in fact Hull-born. Just to blow this theory out of it's southern based, "look at those downtrodden northerners", water. "We really are doing a service to society, mixing with these lower classes. How liberal of us." The Hull fans, of course, distinguishable by the dirt on their faces and holes in their shoes.
The difference is we have been in the land of plastic fan. A spell in the lower leagues should clear decks and bring back some real fans
