Credit where it's due GJ really getting to grips with Yeovil, looks like he will keep them away from the drop zone.

Does make you wonder why it all went wrong here at BCFC clearly had a clash of personalities at Posh with the chairman.

Northampton was the wrong job for him,Yeovil came calling and he is producing his magic again.

Well done Gary keep it going.:1980_boogie_down::1980_boogie_down:

Its all down to the group philosophy, its ok to coaxing players who have a certain level of ability into over performing but the problem for GJ was when he started getting in players like Sno, Hartley, etc who have played the game at a much higher level than League 1 or the NPC...

Run your hearts out lads doesn't really cut much ice with this standard of player who must have looked on GJ and thought WTF and weren't shy about saying and showing it....

Edit:- well done to GJ, he is doing a tremendous job at Yeovil and will always be a legend here plus he's winning me loads of dosh, got 5-1 in play when they were 1-0 down and for me, at 6/5, it was the value bet of the weekend...

There are few managers I'd want more than GJ in a League 1 relegation scrap.

I think he found his limits as a manager with us. Not for that to sound bad, as using form and pluck alone he nearly took us to the promised land. But once in the Championship the football just kept getting of a higher quality and he was either bringing in poor players or good players he couldn't manage correctly.

To use FM terms, I'd say he's still a club icon. Which by the way needs to be updated. We have two legends, that's it. No Scott Murray, Louis Carey... even a Joe Jordan in preferred personnel.

I still regard GJ as one of the best managers that our club has ever had......Don't care and won't listen to the negative comments about him. Seems like a long time ago.

GJ has been a hit and miss at clubs. Yeovil was his first major sucess. In all he did well at city but since then he rapidly fell not finding any sucess with a few different clubs but he has gone back to what he knows and is doing well and wouldnt bet again having further sucess

I have to say in my time watching city after Alan Dicks,Gary Johnson has done and been the best city manager by a country mile.

Definatly glad he came,he put this club on the right track ,fans, players, management all united.
    So sad it went wrong.

I think PoB hit the nail on the head. GJ is a master of getting the best out of 'average' players, but couldn't handle the big name players.
Maybe if we had kept GJ, and not dabbled with 'diva' players we wouldn't be fighting to hold onto everything he achieved for us.
Anyway, we are where we are, and performances have improved slightly of late.
Let's hope Pompey don't go bust, or we will find ourselves 3rd from bottom with yesterday's point deducted...

GJ did a great job at City and I was gutted when he left (and we need to ask ourselves have we moved forwared since then - I don't think so!)
I'm pleased for him that it's going well at Yeovil, and keeping them as the second highest placed team in the West Country!

Well i don't agree with a lot of your comments OneFor, but i'm 100% with you on this one, it was one great ride with Gary, until he lost the dressing room.

Yes but lets not forget we would be in a relegation position had it not been for Portsmouth and their problems.....
Jury is still out on DM for me, not yet set the world alight has he.

Lets not forget how many games did GJ lose when he first took over. Some managers hit the ground ruuning others are slow starters and unfortunately DM and the board do not have the same vision. DM knows that the current squad is not good enough and needs to bring in new faces but the board are not stumping up the cash to get us to the summer still in the championship. makes you wonder how much we will lose if we go down.
