I was expecting a cyber bloodbath, but it was all eerily dignified. Almost a watershed moment for GC.
I generally don't feel anything when most deaths are reported in the news, but this bloke (i know he's not dead) was different, when I saw that picture of him and his kid that he himself tweeted with joy and saying what a blessing it was to have a son left a bad taste in my mouth. Did you mean this cos you wrote something and changed it or cos you thought mine was too soon? I actually didn't even mean what i said as a joke!
Why is that 'lucky'? In fact, I suggest you make a thread on either the Cardiff or Swansea boards suggesting this idea
Sad when you want it to be, ****ing hypocrites! Everyone wants him to be ok and everyone (well most) would like Gary Speed to still be alive regardless of opinions on suicide. But he was given no respect, as you all had an opinion and gave no respect to anyone who though otherwise. If Muamba dies you lot will be taking the piss and making jokes within hours. Who cares though none of us know him he's just an overpaid footballer.
With Speed there was an RIP thread then a jokes thread a day or two after because his death was more of a celebrity one like Houston or Winehouse which the Geordies took offence too, that's why it all started
It makes no difference. It's not the fact that there was a joke thread about Gary Speed but the fact that anyone who thought it was wrong to take the piss was shouted down.
Gary Speed was an average footballer and a **** father. Don't go looking for people to sympathise with you or him on the ****ing internet.
Don't worry everyone, the two biggest ****ers on the entire not606 will be back later. I mean Tina (real name Angus) and that stinking pile of excrement Toby. Toby is and has always been a complete and utter ****. I hope he's in the next bed to Muamba personally. And not stable. Goodnight all.
At least you are sticking to your original opinion. I'm not looking for sympathy it didn't matter a great deal to me as I didn't know the guy, I also don't know much about his footballing ability. I thought it sad when he passed away. I thought it sad that people on The GC saw his death as something to laugh about.
Luvgonzo, you seem to be saying that people should be allowed to express regret and grieve publicly. Surely people should also be allowed to take the piss if they so wish?
Maybe they should, laughing at something is sometimes a defence mechanism. I don't think that this has been the case on some threads. Anyone who wishes to express an opinion that goes against GC majority gets shouted down. The Gary Speed threads were a good example as regular members of GC invaded other boards showing complete disrespect for anyone who had a different opinion.
Undoubtedly. Good for you. I think it's "sad" that he felt driven to kill himself. However, I don't much like him for the fact he did so in spite of having young children who will be without a father for much more of their lives than was necessary. I also am not going to let the fact it's a "sad" situation get in the way of joking about it with others who are similarly inclined. How so?
He must have been very desperate to have taken that step, I don't want to get into a debate about suicide. As for you questioning GC's pure hatred towards him after the fact then you need to revisit some of the threads.
