O/T but slightly topical with the eagles bit. Its on at 10:05 on TCM, classic war film. Got the kids out, feet up, good way to spend the morning. Broad sword calling Danny Boy...............

    Great film.

Saw it the other week when it was on, though TCM's adverts piss me off when they cut the film at an inappropriate moment, ie Clint Eastwood was about to kill thousands of Germans on his own and the next minute there was an ad for life insurance.

Got a few older films recorded- Dirty Harry, Withnail & I and the orginal Scarface film.

"Lieutenant Schaeffer, you're a punk and a second rate punk at that!"

Bet not many people have said that to Clint Eastwood and got away with it!!

Also, for the movie buffs! Did you know the daughter of Colonel Turner (the guy who jumps from the plane at the end) is none other than Joyce Barnaby wife of DCI Tom Barnaby in Midsomer Murders!

I need to get a life away from computers! Come on you Ull!

I can't help but picture him as Dirty Harry "are you feeling lucky punk?" Cut to life insurance advert "You never know when your time is up, here at ripyouoff insurance we can make sure that when that time does come..."

I haven't seen Scarface either but am probably one of the few people in the world who doesn't like Al Pacino so it doesn't appeal to me. On the other hand am a massive fan of De Niro. Watched GoodFellas recently for the first time and was massively disappointed, think the Sopranos ruined gangster movies for me as it was so good, nothing much compares.

I'm talking the original Scarface mate, made in 1932 and in black & white. I love the Pacino version so wanted to see the original.

It's basically the same concept apart from it's about prohibition not drugs and it's less graphic.

Gangster films are brilliant. I suggest watch City of God. It's a brazilian film and in portuguese, but it's still a good watch.
