Just read this tweet from Codemasters:

@FERR4R1 news about dev videos for #f12011 to come just prior to Melbourne GP, it won't be what you expect tho ;) Stay tuned!

    http://twitter.com/Formula1game/status/48486993491009537

Looks like we'll be getting some news and dev diary's soon.

Some things I would love to see in the new game:

    1. Safety cars
    2. Co-op career - as in, two people in the same team against the AI field.
    3. Less bugs
    4. A better "live the life"
    5. Less grip in rain

What things would you like to see in F1 2011?

That sounds awesome! I've always thought F1 games needed a safety car, even if it was just an option, and I'm hoping that its inclusion means more collisions between AI. Co-op career sounds interesting, but I imagine it could get irritating if you can't meet up often.
I'd like to see the driver roster get updated as the season progresses. If HRT (or whoever) have 2 new drivers this year, I'd like to think the game will offer a download of these other drivers, to give you 4 playable characters for HRT.

Maybe I'm selfish, but I DEMAND proper replays, more cameras, shots from all the drivers... I love replaying my moves but my crashes and mistakes as well, the start, all that makes you feel there is actually a race going on (ok, I know it is not) and you are involved. Obviously this also includes accuracy on the engineer's feedback/info.

I also vote for the safety car - my favourite F1 game was 99 for PS1. Probably poor technically speaking but it was such a fun to set up the grid the other around in Magny-course and have several safety's during the race.

And driver updates, not only throughout the season but at least during the time the developer has the license for. At least the names. And I know this will never happen because they want to make money.

I also agree with the grip levels on wet (???) and that we will all try to crash the safety :) , or overtake it, Hamilton style in Valencia lol

there should be an option to switch between Tv commentry or your race engineer. or maybe some AI where you report back on how the car performs and the team could make an educated change or suggestion to you.

Also a podium scene is needed with kinect capabilities =)

BTW, I forgot to mention that the guy that put the voice to the race engineer in F1 2010 is not doing 2011 because of the bugs related to its comments. So it seems Codemaster will overhaul the whole area.

Thats the thing with Codemasters racing games though. They aim for more of an arcade approach, but tried to add a bit of simulation for F1 2010. GRID and DiRT were classic racing games that you could pick up for a couple of hours and do quite a lot, you didn't need to be addicted like call of duty. That's why I love their racing games, and the crashes and damage is better than any other racer at the moment i think

I remember F1 2000 for the PS1 had safety cars, mainly because there were yellow flags at Melbourne, and I forgot the safety car was out, so I ran into it at the quick chicane that I don;t know the name of. That was a brilliant game, even for PS1.

I think the grip issue is that we need a lot less grip in general. What they could do is add an extra difficulty setting, or a 'hardcore mode' that sets everything to just a bit easier than driving a real F1 car, but with the controllers. Also the AI were very good compared to other games, but needed tweaking with there overtaking ability, because I could easily block some of them of on a straight in a HRT, granted I get a good run out of the previous corner.

Will this be a massive update to F1 2010 or a completely new game though? They own the rights for F1 games up to 2012, so I don't know how they're gunna do this. Remember, Sony had the F1 games from at least 1999, but up to 2006, then we had a 3 year gap. I think a year is a bit short for games, which is why I don't like FIFA and PES. I guess it'll be out in October/November time, and I still have most of the achievement/trophies to get. And then there's the question of what do I do with F1 2010 when I get the new one......

They will make a new one, just for extra money. If its the same as last year it will September roughly when it comes out. I hope Studio Liverpool get the licence back after 2012 (Sorry Xboxers) as they make better sims and probably arcade games (Wipeout HD) Even though Dirt 2 was one of my favourite games ever :cheesy:

Thanks for the link Jose Lorca. I enjoyed F1 2010 but I agree with the point that there was too much grip in the rain and it should be reduced.

Also those menacing kerbs at the last chicane at Catalunya really annoy me!

And Jose, I prefer it oversteery, much more fun trying control the slides, especially when you out too much throttle going over the kerbs and you just manage to hold it!

    THAT STUPID CHICANE!

Spin near enough everytime at that place, to the point that I just give up and go about 30 through it,

What do I want improved? Split times, AI that follows the laws, less steward involvement (like when I spin and block the track, I dont want to be given a 10 place grid penalty at monaco because I lit the rears up!)

I want to see more in season stats not just the championship standings like in 2010.

    A more detailed career mode.

Make it harder to keep tyre temperature as they were always fine as long as you kept your front wing in 2010.

A realistic grid start so if you release the throttle before lights out you get a penalty.

More mechanical reliability issues, as this is a big factor in F1.

A formation lap for the hardcore fans.

Finally a podium celebrations for tradition.

If they added these aspects to the game as well as what theyre going to currently add, it would be a beast of a game.

I agree with those things, most of the big bugs they've patched up now, and theres just a tweak left with the AI to do. They have fixed the split imes now, and it's easy to understand. The other things are to add realism, which should top it off and make it compete with GT5, even though GT% is a full race simulation! You should join the Codemasters forums, every game they have has a sticky to send in suggestions, and they do acknowledge them
