Does anyone, like me, want the Chavs to beat Benfica, so that they can be utterly humiliated in the semis by Barcelona? The way Chelsea are playing, they will be ripped a new hole by Barca, and their performance is likely to see English football sink to new depths of shame. They are quite likely to put the debacles of the United v Barca and Gooners v Barca matches to shame. We all saw how both United and Arsenal were utterly humiliated by Barca, especially Arsenal who didn't even manage to get one shot on goal (a truly embarrassing statistic, and one that will live long in the shameful annuls of English club football). And let us not forget that Bendtner, their top striker at the time, tripped over his own bootlaces when presented with their only opportunity in the whole match. Having said that, I'm betting that Chelsea will be made to look like a pub side, and could even eclipse AFC's woeful and shameful performance. Having said that, I very much doubt that they'll get past Benfica.
Just made a point on rival watch thread about how good it will be to keep the Chav's involved in CL up to the semis, hoping their PL form dips (sorry stays low). And yes, Barca will rip them a new one in the semi.
I think it bodes well for both Arsenal and Spurs to keep Chelsea involved in the cup for as long as possible. Why did you take out my quote on your sig about us having our eye on your 3rd spot HIAG ?
Because you have been very lucky with your results, and we have been extremely unfortunate. Destiny has determined that there is a possibility you may have been right. However, should St Arseholes Day materialize later in the season, I will be back to make your life a misery. Trust me.
So you want us to get to the semis of the best/most difficult club competition on the planet and go out to the best club team (arguably) of all time rather than us get beaten in the quater finals against mediocre opposition? Almost the same logic the mousers took when United lost to them in the final Spud logic Surely you'd rather us go as far as possible for one reason only - it distracts us from the top four and will wear our players out?
Two reasons, Drogs. A Premier League side progressing to the next round would help the now-battered UEFA coefficient. It's been a bad year for English sides in Europe.
Its perfect logic Drogs...you big buffoon! , the semi's keeps you busy enough, but not in any way do I want you to reach the Final incase you have a spawny one on penalties...oh wait!
Yes but that's not what HIAG was saying, sounded as if the only reason was to see us get torn to bits. It is enjoyable to be fair... Like it was for me when Madrid did it to you lot
Correct. I reckon you'll get beaten narrowly by Benfica, and whilst that would be satisfying in itself, it wouldn't be any where near as satisfying as watching you get torn to shreds by Barca. At the end of the day, it's all about entertainment.
Benfica are a good side, I won't be underestimating them but our boys have found belief under RDM and we are in two cup competitions, unlike anyone else. Out of interest, why do you think we'll lose to Benfica? We beat Napoli who are far better attacking wise and our weakness this season has been our defence, we managed to cope on Wednesday. Like I said, I do know what you mean, it was very refreshing seeing you get thumped by Real last year.
He is one of these football fans that seems to concentrate on our rivals more than Spurs. I dislike Chelsea a lot and hate Arsenal but I take more joy from Spurs winning than either of those losing.
I saw the match. Napoli could have won that match, had they taken their chances. You defence was, yet again, very sloppy, and I think you will be riding your luck if you play like that again, what ever the team.
Are you you referring to me with that comment? If so, you are completely wrong. I love talking about our rivals - isn't that all part and parcel of participating in this kind of forum? - but to say that I concentrate on our rivals more than Spurs is going too far. First and foremost, I want Spurs to win, but I won't deny that I take delight in rival clubs screwing things up, whether it be on the pitch, in the dressing room, or in the board room. Any so-called fan tells me he doesn't, too, isn't a true fan.
Yes. I enjoy seeing Arsenal, Chelsea etc lose as much as anyone and love winding them up now and then but I don't focus or enjoy seeing them lose more than us win.
Neither do I. And I think it bizarre that you should accuse me of wanting Chelsea to lose more than I want Spurs to win, when you know so little about me.
Key word being DID some of you lot have no problem baiting the scousers about the 4-0 win when they only had 9 men. Really? I strongly disagree, we were absolutely class defensively. Both Terry and Luiz had quality games despite Terry having just come back from injury and Luiz playing nearly the whole of ET half a crock. The goal they scored was due to no one being there and it was outside the area, not exactly a defence splitting piece of play.
