Ok I did miss that, thanks But can't let facts get in the way of a good moan... Seem to like to twist anything to an anti-Bassini agenda - now Dyche is doing well!
Massey Re-joins U's Official #watfordfc ‏ @wfcbadgemoose #watfordfc striker Gavin Massey has re-joined Colchester Utd on loan for 1-month. Read quotes from SD here: http://bit.ly/xMpFzXhttp://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2661979,00.html
Gav will probably be a wee bit disappointed, but it makes sense. Deeney, Garner and Iwelumo all need game time to build them up ahead of next season, and bearing in mind we still have Trotta, chances for anyone else will probably be few and far between. Britt will gain more from one or two fleeting glimpses of Championship action than Gavin IMO.
Kacaniklic eyes Fulham role. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...=Feed: WatfordFC (Watford FC ... Latest News) Might he be better to stay with us and benefit from our youth team as many before him have?? What are the chances of him forcing players like Duff, Murphy and Dempsey out? They are top notch players and, the last gasp defeat to Villa aside, they are doing great in the prem. So why would Jol change it??
alternatively although Britt is a forward he has been used as a winger successfully! left or right. we aint going up or down ,why develop other clubs personnel when we should be developing our own virtually risk free! Now is the time
I would agree that if Britt is not going to be a striker then there is no need. But atm we have 2 very high quality young wingers. Once Alex leaves we are left with Yeates or Forsyth to replace him . Not the brightest prospect i dont think. So i would love to see him stay with us.
What I would add is that we are in a very unusual and lucky position to have pretty much two months of risk free football ahead of us. A good opportunity to blood some fringe players.
Fulham player in wanting to play for Fulham one day shocker. Great journalism from Sky I think Britt should be given priority over the likes of Iwelumo and Yeates and to a lesser extent Forsyth and Garner, but at the same time I think we should keep Alex. Showing the likes of Martin Jol and reminding the likes of Alex Ferguson that we still know how to nurture youngsters is part and parcel of building for the future. If we are to get promoted in the near future, a loan player from a club like Fulham or United is almost certainly going to be a big part of that team.
Joint at your place event with Wealdstone. Genius. http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2684213,00.html
I am absolutely 110% definitely going to that (assuming I have the time and am not broke a couple of days before payday). Seriously though, if we're going to hold an event in that sort of area in a venue we don't own, it may as well be at Wealdstone. The extra cash will make a much bigger difference to them than us. And given how many players have turned out for both clubs in recent years, not least the likes of Marv and Britt, there are a lot of questions and comments that one club's fans will have that will be directly relevant to the other one's. For instance I'd be interested to know how they see the current loan relationship. The main benefit to us is to give players their first taste of playing 90 minutes in an environment where the fans and manager expect you, personally, to deliver immediately. But is the biggest positive for them the fact that they get the occasional Assombalonga, or that the relationship makes it easier for them to permanently sign the likes of Jonathan North and Kurtney Brooks?
it's a good question...i'd like to go...though i'm the one who walks out of something like that, finally thinking of the question i wish i'd asked! lol Where does the money come from though, it's a free event...
I dont understand why we dont try and loan out our young players to Barnet instead of Borehamwood & Wealdstone. Surely they would benefit more, and also find it easier to become Championship first teamers by playing in league 2 as opposed to non league??? With Britt, he plays for 2 different non league clubs as does really well, then all of a sudden he is in the starting line up against Championship opposition who are fighting for their lives???? That cant be good for him???? If he had spent the past few moths at Barnet instead, then maybe the step-up wouldn't have been so daunting?? Or alternatively, why not put Massey in the starting line up against Coventry as he has been playing in League 1 with Yeovill and Colchester, keep Massey here and let Britt go out on loan to a L1 or L2 club. Im really not that fussed about our relationship with sides like Wealdstone and Borehamwood, it's not much of a step up from playing in our reserves. What I am really pleased about though, is our new relationship with League 1 Brentford. Thompson, Bennett & Mingoia have all gone out on loan to them this season and Im glad they have done so, that will really help all 3 of them out.
I think the lads that have gone to the stones have had a good time , its moreabout building confidence than anything , that and the fact we have had a relationship with the stones for many years , although I agree vwith your point about Brentford( possibly assisted by Rich Lee)
It's not a step up in quality, but it is in terms of intensity and physicality. The sort of players we produce tend to need a stern test in both. The fact that we consistently lose in the early stages of the Herts Senior Cup shows that our 16 and 17 year olds don't have a divine right to be picked at League Two or Conference level, and have to earn it instead.
Im on about the 19/20 year olds. Players who are 16/17 are far too young to be loaned out IMO. I accept that most of our young players who have gone out on loan have improved and come back a bit tougher. But then you get players like Michael Bryan who didn't get loaned out to a league club till he was 21, just spent years rotting in the reserves. Also, would Barnet really turn their noses up at having some of our young players on loan given that they usually struggle every season? I bet if we offered them Britt till the end of the season they would snap our hands off!!
This one should be on the bench Saturday. http://www.dagbladet.no/2012/03/21/sport/fotball/watford/20760702/ You might need a translator as Norway will struggle with it.
