I think our dismal showing in Europe this year clearly shows that we are not good enough for either European competition. We got a relatively easy group in the CL and could not get through it, then we got utterly humiliated by Bilbao (who admittedly have a lot of talent in their squad). So here is what I think United need to buy in the summer. 2 top CMs - 1 more attacking with creativity and 1 deeper lying CM to take the pressure off Carrick 1 left winger - preferably left footed 1 top forward - to take the pressure off Rooney especially if Berbatov leaves You probably won't agree with me but, hey, that's just my 2 pence worth.
Agree about possibly 2 CM's. Not sure about a LW but would have a new LB to replace Evra who is possibly past his best especially at defending. Agree about the striker as well.
Agreed on the central midfield. Not enough quality anymore - Scholes+Giggs too old, Carrick not good enough... the rest of the central boys are average. Also think we need a new back four and GK - not impressed with De Gea, Rio is too old, Evra too old, Evans not good enough. Vidic is excellent, Smalling shows potential, Jones is far better in midfield... not good enough as a centre back. Can you imagine Messi RUNNING at Jones...? On the plus side excellent wingers and strike force... but compared to previous Fergie sides, this one is VERY poor. Says a lot about the state of the EPL that we're STILL top of it...
Top of the league and in decline, same old ****. Why don't we just buy a completely new team obviously our current one is useless. The back 4 is just unsettled, been to much inconsistency with the line up. The wingers and strike force are good. We could do with a quality centre mid. If cleverly can stay fit I would rather him get a run of games then us spends loads on an unproven player from a foreign league.
I want us to get back to the fluid attacking style we had with Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez. Good times.
Personally i'd say we need a centre half - someone like mats hummels Two centre mids - Javi martinez or jack rodwell (just think we need english talent in the top teams in the country) and someone more attacking like goetze or sneijder And finally a striker - maybe llorente or rossi or someone at the same sort of level as those two. If we needed anything else for me it would be a right back; we've never replaced neville and its about time we had a regular first choice right back

Been a season ticket holder since 1967, sunshine. I watched Best, Law and Charlton. Have YOU watched United play? If so, you'd recognise the problems that Fergie faces.
I think United need a left back to replace Evra sooner rather than later (Cissokho or Alba perhaps?) and at least one quality central midfielder, not an attacking player neither but more of a deep lying playmaker to supply the wingers and strikers, Javi Martinez would be perfect, or Sahin who United have been linked with recently, or even someone like Gundogan who looks like a real talent for Dortmund and he's only 21. Another winger would be nice too with Park getting on a bit (he was never really a winger anyway) and Giggs not getting any younger, Hazard would be great if rumors are to be believed but he wouldn't be cheap and that money may be better spent strengthening other areas. Maybe it's time to bring in another big defender too with Ferdinand suffering more and more injuries, someone like Subotic or Hummels for example. I would also like to see some of the reserves given either a few games or a good loan spell with someone who will give them regular first team action, Vermijl at right back has really impressed me this year, so has Will Keane who can't stop scoring and Petrucci who seems to have overcome his injury problems now and looks to have real potential, Fryers has been pretty solid at left back and so has Tunnicliffe in midfield.
If Berbatov leaves, then we will need another striker. I would prefer a Mark Hughes type, someone who can hold up the ball and bully defenders. Two full backs, as the twins are never fit, and Evra seems to have lost the ability to defend, especially against wingers (which as a full back is v poor). A left footed left winger would be nice and a box to box centre mid to help out Carrick and Cleverly. And maybe another experienced CB to replace Rio, as I think he may only have one more season left in him.
If you do watch United then you will see that De Gea has vastly improved and Evans contribution to our defence has been vital.
Evans gets a lot of stick but he has done a good job while Vidic has been injured. City have spent 4 gajillion pounds on players but have looked ****ing ****e at the back in every game that Kompany has missed.
