I'm sure we tried that before, with Gerrard and Hobbs in the centre and Chester at right back. Think Rosey was suspended. I remember Chester not risking getting forward and the fans whinging. Think we were losing at the time, which didn't help. He's not great at running with the ball and you need that to play there. However, i do agree with you about competition being good for the team.

Yes it is. Well NB could go with Chester Hobbs and Gerrard as a back 3 and Rosie and Dawson/Dudg as wing backs. Its a formation that could be used in certain games but i agree would not be a total change, just a thought.
