Guys ......We have all known from the off that Marcus had set up a loan fund, for us to use. It will be listed as a directors loan on the books. No date for repayment will be lodged or implied. If you think about it it is unlikely to be called in as a one off payment anyway. There is no way that anyone short of NC will know when and if that loan will be called in and the time frames involved if any. Who ever started this rumour is just mischief making....most likely a Pompey fan trying to get saints fans worried in a similar way to what they are. All directors do this when they put money in, do so, so profits can be taken when able with no tax to be paid up to the value of the loan.

Another reason that money is unlikely to be repaid: it would be a terrible business decision to take 20m out of the club and collapse the value of the asset. No fears there, I think.

I'm confused. Why should I be delighted? Why am I meant to have an opinion of you? Your opinion of Southampton doesn't interest me personally, but isn't this comment simply "being controversial" for the sake of, aka being an arse. How is anyone meant to have this enhanced opinion?

It appears that people don't like people working as 'bankers', I am no longer going to be in the financial industry. My opinions however, as they're pretty much all correct will stay the same, nothing controversial about them at all.

On reading this I was reminded of Frederick in the Prates of Penzance who was supposed to be a pilot and ended up a Pirate.

At school my mate told the careers master he wanted to work in taxes and was sent for an interview at a taxi company.

Now what did Joey overhear that led to him being a banker I wonder?

Thanks Godders, you wicked old bugger.

Now I know that GG was formerly Joey B his comment about Southampton makes sense (almost). However, given that it must be presumed that most people on here have some sort of link to Southampton making this kind of derogatory remark is surely intended to be inflammatory isn't it? Bizarre behaviour however you measure it.

I seem to remember that the stadium and academy ground are held by a separate company from the football club, presumably as a safety measure in case the club hit problems. I do not intend to get wound up about such things which are presumably for business reasons. The Leihberrs and Cortese are spending a lot on developing the academy, so I don't think they intend to hive it off from the club.

Also, even if they dont get on, in my opinion it's not a bad thing...my experience is not to enter into a business partnership with a friend (less so a family member)...it's often a recipe for disaster, better to have a respectful, professional business relationship with a "non-friend"

PS Joey no longer a banker...we're doomed!

Agree with you on the business with friends point. As for Joey leaving the banking sector I've been buying Euros now that he's off.

Sacked by Goldman Sachs today were we following the revelations of an insulting and offensive attitude towards clients?

    :D

It is a lot more than £9m!

The 2009/10 accounts for the first season in League One have the wage bill at £12m, since then lots of players have signed new larger contracts and new players have joined on big deals.

As for the £20m from Liebherr, it is nothing to worry about. Will just be added to the value of the company come the day it is sold. It is external debt you need to be worried about, there is no evidence in the public domain Saints have any significant external debt and it is a Liebherr family policy not to accrue any.

Looks no different on the surface to what Abramovich has done at Chelsea since his takeover many years ago, though the figure there is massively inflated.

I'm pretty confident we'll be in the Premier League by 2014, so I wouldn't worry too much about this.

Must admit though, it's the first I've heard about it. I think the accounts are published in some detail on the 31st March this year.

As I said earlier. It is quite simply the way owners inject cash without wasting money. Why state that 'I will give you 20m' for the tax man to take 8m off. You inject 20m as an interest free loan to 'be repaid' and then write it off over a time frame. That way the club gets 20m and not 12m,

I would guess if you looked at Chelsea's or Man C's books they owe their owners 50x that in a few years!!!. This is business guys but it shows in the accounts because the accounts have to show it.

We have someone as chairman who is not only astute in financial matters, has been a 'top boy' ion the banking sector but was specialised in the sporting sector of banking to boot. Is there any other chairman as qualified to do what chairman these days have to do in the whole of the league or in Europe?

Now I have to go. I need sleep and it's been a pretty distressing day for me. but be assured we are in the safest hands in the league. We are controlled by the most qualified. The plan is set, the money is there to be used and not paid and in a few years we will be one of the only clubs in the top flight along with Arsenal that have the finances under control and well within the UEFA guidelines.

We are on a winner with Cortese and by the time the 'financial goons' that read the figures then make false assumptions with no knowledge understand this we will already be in Europe. Maybe by default and not in a high position but because by that time (5-6 years) we will be one of the only Prem clubs to actually comply with the UEFA rules.

HAVE faith we have the most qualified chairman in the league who also seems to have the best knowledge an employer can have. He picked NA when none of us would have suggested it and look where we are. The man works and works and is well worth his hefty salary. HE has made all of us happy. Not just the 20-30k that come through the gate but all of the rest that only buy a shirt and even those that just say they are Saints.

Stop worrying get behind him, get behind NA, get behind the team The next ten years could be the biggest of our lives and it needs all of us to be on the bus whether you go to games or not.

We are all in this as Saints fans. There are NO plastic saints fans. 1m people are better for the club adding finance than the 20-30k that go through the gate. We all add value to this project and it has worked so far and will continue to work if we can all enjoy the ride.

Come on guys be as one and lets enjoy the next decade,

Forgive my typos. As mentioned has been a distressing day for reasons I don't fully understand until I talk to my parents on Tuesday. Have been drinking heavily to try and remove some of it and as you can see has had the desired effect.

For the record due to circumstance and location I am in the 'only buys the shirt brigade'. I do also buy mugs, mousemats and other sundries etc but not in the 20-30k, however that is a dream I wish to fulfill regularly in the future.

Long live Saints fans and long live Pompey............my Dad needs his team and I need my Dad.

Every one needs a Dad especially boys. Mine was a really lovely kind gentle man who played football and enjoyed watching it as well.

He died when I was in my twenties and I have missed him ever since. There has been so much I would have wanted to share with him.

So look after your Dad ImpsSaint and spend all the time you can with him and most importantly be the very best Dad you can for your children.
