    WATFORD 0 v 0 COVENTRY CITY
Chris Iwelumo for Britt Assombalonga - 61 mín.
Nyron Nosworthy - caution 66 mín.
Cody McDonald for Alex Nimely - 72 mín.
Sean Murray - caution 76 mín.
Mark Yeates for Alex Kacaniklic - 80 mín.
Cyrus Christie for Jordan Clark - 85 mín.
    Troy Deeney - caution 90 + 4 mín.
    Attendance: 12.563 (1.067 visitors)

After two Saturday successes and a tough draw the Hornets are hosts to the Sky Blues who have failed to produce any form away from Coventry all season. A short voyage south might produce the visitors first away win of the season.

“It was a massive ask, physically, this week because of the emotion involved in the last two games and the way they have had to go about their business, but I believe in what they do and they started fantastically well. I thought we moved the ball quickly, we counter-attacked, we built attacks, we looked a threat and it possibly could have been more than two if we are greedy”

“We went along nicely in the first half and one soft moment for their goal was a slight disappointment on the day but we then showed the resolve you have to away from home, when teams get desperate and go longer and longer.”

“The back four were fantastic and the players in front of them worked tirelessly. We could have kept the ball better and could have scored a couple on the break in the second half, which would have killed the game off, and it culminated in what you need to do; which is one good save from Tomasz. All-in-all it was a fantastic result.”

    • The Hornets

Curiously Britt Assombalonga has returned early from his loan at Braintree because of his goal scoring, but could that be enough to get onto the substitutes bench or even the first team. With Championship football almost certain for next season he could get into the team. Dale Bennett is still recovering from his concussion in the West Ham United match. Gavin Massey has an infected tooth and Ross Jenkins still has his groin strain. Stephen McGinn is playing more games as part of his recovery and Martin Taylor has returned to the first team, even if for only a few minutes.

Last time out, v Derby County
    Tomasz Kuszczak
Lloyd Doyley, Adrian Mariappa, Nyron Nosworthy - caution 66 mín., Carl Dickinson
Sean Murray- caution 76 mín., John Eustace (c), Jonathan Hogg, Mark Yeates for Alex Kacaniklic - 80 mín.
Chris Iwelumo for Britt Assombalonga - 61 mín., Troy Deeney - caution 90 + 4 mín.

Substitutes: Scott Loach (gk), Martin Taylor, Mark Yeates, Chris Iwelumo, Joe Garner

" We have to keep going and despite certain problems, I think it is very important that we get something out of these next two games (Watford and Cardiff City). It would be nice to get the home form and take it away with us and show what we can do, but on the road. They are extremely difficult games but we have to step up to the mark.”

“It is up to us to deliver the results for the club. We are going to have to be tough and stand up to the opposition; impose ourselves on the game as much as possible. These two games coming up are the sort of games that people don't expect us to get anything out of but we are working our socks off. We might have to move people around but we have a job to do, and we are determined to see it through”

    • The Sky Blues

Cody McDonald (thigh) David Bell (groin) and Gary McSheeffrey (groin) all have injuries which could keep them from playing in Watford. Carl Baker’s ankle injury, the BBC say hamstring, will stop him playing until next season. Gael Bigirimana the winnerof theFootball Leagues Apprentice of the Year prize should be in the visitors team.

Last time out, v Birmingham City
    Joe Murphy
Nathan Cameron, Cyrus Christie for Jordan Clark - 85 mín., Martin Cranie, Richard Keogh
Oliver Northwood, Gary Deegan, Sammy Clingan
Cody McDonald for Alex Nimely - 72 mín., Gary McSheffery, Clive Platt

    Substitutes:
Chris Dunn (gk), Cyrus Christie, Chris Hussey, Conor Thomas, Cody McDonald

    Who will win?
    Current form
Two wins two draws and two defeats looks quite good form but Coventry were starting from a very bad position and are inching towards safety, the team may not reach that point but they will try very hard. Watford are looking a little better three wins one draw and two defeats. With a goals total of 9:13 Watford are not doing very well against the visitors 5:6 for the visitors. Both teams have an ability to lose more goals than they score.

Akureyri's Prediction: 2:0 This game should go for a home win which is a sensible prediction and one I will stand with. Looking at other things Watford do not play well against struggling teams and also the Sky Blues have a terrible record away from their home this season which could suggest a success for the visitors as a run of no wins in seventeen must end at some time.

Great thread AK. Its a shame you cant do them cross board anymore. There are some great games coming up for them.

I cannot see anything other than a victory for the Hornets, simply due to our run of form and the team morale. I cannot wait for this one, three points would be an excellent B'day present.

Can one of you helpful moderators open this thread on the Coventry City page. I forgot to do that and the advanced edit does not have the box to do this.

BHD I see your comment. Why can we not have a thread for two clubs any more?

There were a few idiots on GC who would use them to WUM other boards, so Mick pulled the whole thing :(

I have put a guide link on the Coventry board. There are not many Coventry followers writing on not606 as they have their own forum which I found when I was poking the net.

Surely it's technically possible to restrict permissions on individual boards? I.e. not to allow multi-board threads on GC, or any board without a moderator?

Ought to be a home win on recent form, but the Championship has a habit of throwing up surprises. Let's hope this isn't one of them...

This is one of those times where we are on good form so expect a home win... but often trips us up! I will still go for a hard-fought, scrappy 2-1 home win though

    Great thread Ak <ok>

Of course they will Cornish - AK always links his match threads to both clubs, but it seems that functionality has been withdrawn because of excessive wumming which is a real shame.

I will go with a 3-1 Watford win, but with the Sewing Machine boys scoring first.

Nice one AK - 5 *'s as ever!

W-Y you miss my point. Some people didn't want uncle Bob posting here becaues he wasn't a watford supporter. So I just wondered if Coventry supporters were welcome to post.

I'd take a high scoring draw. Mapps is probably going to leave this summer and we might well have completely different goalkeepers come September, so clean sheets only mean so much at this stage. But attacking wise I can't see many changes. What this team needs going into the summer is confidence that there are goals right through the squad, and that whoever leaves we have nothing to fear come August.

No, we didn't want him here because he had no interest in talking about football, period.

(mods, I'm happy for you to be pro-active on moving this discussion elsewhere)
