I'll tell you right now you won't win you next league game, and you will lose it, then get back to me on this new found confidence of yours. High moral isn't enough when you're legs are fatigued, injured, and when you are an ageing player, just wait and see how this isn't going to help you. I actually prefer you to get Barca in the semis, i want you to even advance further so you have MORE games.

Between "high morale" and "physical exhaustion", I'll give them high morale any day.

It's not even to make any of us feel better ... I was genuinely supporting Chelsea last night.

Anything which gives us an extra sniff of an edge in that race to fourth, I'm up for.

    an·nu·al
    Adjective:
    Occurring once every year.
    Noun:
A book or magazine that is published once a year under the same title but with different contents: "a Christmas annual".
    Synonyms:
adjective. yearly - anniversary - yearling
noun. yearbook - almanac - annals

You have won two times at the Emirates. Two times in six years. So again, that's two wins. That is the same amount of wins we have got at Stamford Bridge since we moved to the Emirates. Not to be pedantic or anything. :)

It wont help us though. That win will give chelsea a boost. I can see them going on a good league run off the back of it unfortunatly.

I doubt they would even be able to handle Marseille.

At least we are realistic about our team and comment when we are playing badly. Chelsea have been even worse than us, how is that possible!?!?! We lost 3 players, 2 of which were our best players and had loads of injuries to boot, yet we still sit higher than Chelsea. To add, Chelsea have spent millions and a new manager yet have gone backwards. Chelsea would have been better off getting knocked out the Champions League as they have no hope in hell. It wlll only add to there fixture list and further fatigue their aging players. They can end up with nothing and finish 5th. Now that would be something.....

    Torres £50m v RVP £3m priceless.....

It doesn't matter what is said really the fact is both Arsenal and Chelsea are in decline.

Arsenal's decline has been coming for years, in fact I forecasted it about 4 years ago. Chelsea's decline was always coming, I feared if we did not make changes after 09/10 and freshen up the squad we would be left behind.

Van Persie is papering over the cracks at Arsenal for the time being in terms of the scoring stakes anyway. I like Gervinho but was warned of his inconsistency before he came to Arsenal and can see what Lille fans meant. Walcott is poor but Arsenal have a gem in Oxlaide Chamberlain, but how long until a City or Barca come knocking for him?

Chelsea are stale and not as good as Arsenal offensively, I can't help but feel if we had a decent striker we'd be higher in the league.

You have to give Arsenal and Chelsea credit.

In October nobody would have predicted Arsenal to make top 4, they may not be as technically good but there is a togetherness about this squad and you have to credit Wenger for moulding mainly average players bar 3 or 4, into a proper team. I noticed at City just how much Arsenal have improved.

Chelsea's problems were predicted with the old guard, but to our credit despite being castigated by the media we pulled off the greatest ever CL comeback by an English side and are going strong in the CL.

Last 8 in the FA Cup. Last 8 in Europe. Favourable draws on Friday and Sunday (if we beat Leicester) could mean we win a trophy, despite all the media bull**** we've had about Terry, Lampard and then of course the sacking of AVB and the controversial exit of Anelka etc <ok>

Chelsea view anything other than 1st as failure whereas Arsenal view anything in the top 4 is success, I think that is where the problem lies at the moment for Arsenal. Chelsea aim for the Sun, Arsenal aim for the moon. Arsenal are a big club that ought to be aiming for trophies IMO <ok>

I think Arsenal should be proud of how far they've come but nothing is won or lost yet. I know we won't win the CL but until the moment comes where we are eliminated from the CL, neither Arsenal or Spurs fans should rest easy as if we did win it we would qualify for the CL at the expense of 4th if I'm not mistaken

    For the record.

This thread disappointed me because the main protagonists were on our board singing our praises, and then were here giving it the big un.

I would say that on this forum arsenal have been as humble as we have in our expectations, due to poor performance, but we have a common desire in that we want to finish above Spurs.

That is possible, but possibly unlikely...what I don't like is the flannel...I work with Utd, City, Goonz, Spuds and Geordies...all of them loved last nights game for the right reasons with no snyde undertones.

Of course it is possible that the people I refer to we're the ones saying winger out a few weeks ago....

We support Arsenal and want the best for our club. Now Chelsea have two extra games it will mean more games for them to deal with. Can the older players at Chelsea deal with the amount of games coming their way? That plus the tough run in will mean Arsenal might have more of a chance to get into the top four. So, in the end it could all work out for Arsenal or it could be a boost for Chelsea and they might go on a run. Speculating on the possibilities is all we are doing here. At the end of the day, nobody is begrudging Chelsea their win but we are looking at the bigger picture for our club.

Also, as I said earlier in the thread, I would love to see Arsenal still be in two cup competitions but I know our squad will not be able to deal with the amount of games in short periods. Can Chelsea's squad cope with the tough run of games? Remain's to be seen but we as Arsenal fans hope that your league form suffers because we are competing with Chelsea in the league. Personally, I hope Chelsea get a tough game in the CL and hopefully that gives Chelsea problems in the league meaning we get a top four place. In an ideal world, it would be better to see Arsenal and Chelsea in the top four and Spurs out of it but right now we know that we need Chelsea to drop points in the league in order to start building a sizable gap on them in the league. That is my reasoning for my earlier comments on this thread.

Yes but that win could also give them the boost that could really kick start their season, of course we will be fresher physically but that won't mean anything unless we continue to perform on the pitch and get the results. However chelsea do now have man city away and spurs at home back to back and i wouldnt be surprised if they do not get any point from those 2 games. This is a real chance for us to really pull away from chelsea and catch spurs, hopefully our added rest will prove vital as we have a couple of real tough matches in april.

    No really <laugh><laugh>

As for Arsenal embarrassing England 4-0 in Milan - what about our redemption in London 3-0 <doh>

Lets talk about something REALLY embarrassing to English football:
