probably still cheaper than the train though , although I wouldnt want to leave a car at a train station anywhere in Wales! Sorry cant give you any helpful ideas apart from high gears and low revs:( diesel cost is hurting here too coz of the work commute and Mrs N `s new business milelage as well! around 14Nok a litre at exchange rate approx 9 to the pound

Because of that, living in the Channel Islands gives a new meaning to the phrase "piggy in the middle"!

Too true Norway - even with parking in London it still works out cheaper than the train for one - let alone both of us.

It's a case of differing perspectives Toby. Living there, it may be that you are 'tuned out' to it or you don't frequent the places that give that impression? From my point of view, as an occasional visitor, it most certainly is true - in fact it was my 11 year-old son (on his first ever visit there) who was with me who made the initial observation when we were on the Tube. From there, it developed into a game for us - Spot the Pom. ;)

Isn't that the game Aussies normally play while they're losing the Ashes? <devil>

Very true - although that usually only happens when the 'English' team are stacked with foreigners, making Spot the Pom a bit of a challenge. <whistle>

I only moved back here 5 months ago, hadn't lived in London for 18 years before that...

I commute and trust me, most people here are English or speak English. Maybe you were wandering around in the daytime, where you would mostly get tourists. It is a very multicultural city but you can't say that there's ever a language barrier...

I regret to report that due to abuse from some twats on GC and premiership boards Mick has had to remove cross board threads. So for the foreseeable future the match threads will be limited to WFC only. :(. The problems are that people will start wum threads on a board with no mods and then post to the board they wish to Wum. For instance posting to Bolton in order to WUM Liverpool, or something similar.

I will take your word for it Dan, it sounds too complex for me. :(

Bet they don't have any problems with our board. ;)

Haven't we been somewhere near there today?:lipsrsealed:

Well what happened was when you created a cross board thread, like AK's MTs, only the first team on the thread could edit or close it, so people would open them on obscure boards, or boards without mods so that they would not get changed.

I reluctantly agree with the decision, even if we are effectively being punished because Bolton have no fans.

Roberto Di Savage has today accused another human being of lacking class. Worse still, he didn't go for a particularly deserving target.

If you are talking about the cross board issue NNW, i disagree. I think that for most of the users it was a good thing, however a minority of twerps decided to ruin it. I for one really enjoyed having the banter with the opposition, and with out the cross board it wont happen.

It needs to be brought back. But from what you're telling me, they tried to fixed it, felt they weren't able to, and figured the best bet was to withdraw it.

If the choice was either keep the old system, or get rid of it temporarily and get the powers to be to realise just how big a dealbreaker it will be if it's not brought back in some form, then I say the right choice was made. Hopefully we'll get a fixed version in time for the new season.

Now that i do agree with. I think it damages the match day experience with out it, but with it, it hurt the day to day exp for a lot of people. After all, even we were victims of it a couple of times :(

high gears, low revs...and early and gentle braking :)

i have thought of a temporary solution...to go to the opposition board and post a thread, inviting them to the match thread...if it's an active board, i'm sure they'll take us up on the offer.

I have started doing that of late to save fuel, and i have gained an extra 3mpg, which considering that 2 days a week my average speed is probably about 30mph its not bad i think.

I think thats going to be the only way, which is a shame as i like the idea. :(

Nope, not bad at all, it does work, i get usually between 45 and 50mpg depending on how many manoeuvres i do and whether my learners are beginners or not...but they all learn to drive that way, because now you can get marked down on the test for non-eco driving!
