Been on General sale for days, and there are still plenty of tickets left. To think our record attendance is 75,038 for a 6th round tie v Sunderland. We're now struggling to shift less than half of that amount.
yeh whats all that about..its our chance to help the team get to wembley for the semi's...t.v will play a role though no doubt..ill be at the match north stand upper.
It's very disappointing. Especially when you consider we were only a second division in 1938 and still got 75,000 for a 6th round tie! I checked it out, in that season Grimsby and Brentford finished higher in the league than we did! I'll be at the game too, obviously each to their own whether they go or not. But amongst all our fans we can't find 35,000 for an FA Cup quarter final (I assume Bolton will bring a 1,000 or so)
This is very sad news... If Holte was here he'll be shouting about Villa always having more fans at games than us
To be fair, it's been another season where we've played a fair few cup games that aren't included in the season tickets- 5 extra I think. After lumping out nearly £900 on a season ticket, having to pay another £120+ isn't easy for a lot of people nowadays. I'll be there in my usual seat though!
Perhaps if they said those attending the Bolton game would have priority for the semi and the final it would change. I get a little miffed when those who turn up on cold rainy nights in November to watch unknown Eastern European teams get totally bypassed for the glamour fixtures. If you've got the season ticket USE IT.
I don't think the 5.30 kick off time helps. I am sure someone will qoute exceptions to this, but in my view, we generally seem to struggle to sell out when the kick off time is different from the traditional Saturday afternoon 3pm or the midweek 7.45.
Wages too, people are more affluent now than they were in the 30s on the whole, so I doubt relative poverty is a good argument to use here. I guess a lot of the problem is the decline of the FA Cup as an attraction.
I don't know about Villa but it's worth noting that we want a 60,000 (approx) seater new stadium. Arsenal have one and sold 60,000 tickets for their 4th round FA Cup tie v Villa. Obviously Arsenal have a much bigger fanbase than us, but is ours so small relative to theirs that we can't get 36,000 for a game like this? Does this present problems when we greatly increase our capacity?
Fair comments J8, each to their own whether they choose to go or not, but we often hear about 'pent up demand for Spurs tickets', well here's an FA Cup Q/F and we're struggling to shift 36,000. Where are all the people who claim they'd love to go to a game but can't get tickets?
Yep Paul, fair point, maybe Cup games should have specific loyalty points for each competition. You can guarantee if we make the semi-final lots of people who aren't going to this game, and didn't make any of the earlier rounds, will suddenly want a ticket.
Hi OSC, you may well be right. I actually love 5.30 kick offs, I think they're much better than 3 pm or 7.45, but each to their own.
I love them as well Ghoddle10, but I sit in the East stand and a lot of the season ticket holders near me do not seem to attend the games outside the traditional 3/7.45 ko's. I was merely going on that which in hindsight, possibly isn't the best basis to gauge my opinion. I do agree with your main point though, which is how disappointing it is to see us stuggle to fill WHL for a FACquarter final.
Its also St.Patricks Day and the rugby England V Ireland is on at the same time. Might have some bearing on it.
I make you right NSS. Not encouraging though when some Spurs fan prefer rugby to an FA Cup Q/F, and while I can see the attraction of St Patrick's day for the Irish, most of our fans aren't Irish. I find it depressing to see English people celebrating St Patrick's day more than ST George's day. Anyway, what is this celebrating exactly? Going down O'Neills wearing a big hat sponsored by some brewery and getting pissed. Marvellous. Each to their own though. I would rather watch Spurs reserves than rugby or celebrating the national day of a country I don't belong to. Actually I'd rather watch Spurs reserves than celebrate St George's day, but that's just me
oh comon..regardless of all the excuses..we should be filling the stadium..not telling people how to spend their money...some people dont get a chance to go due to tickets..i thought they would have jumped at the thought of getting a chance to watch Spurs.
Well I'm part Irish and the missus is 100% Irish, not so much thick mick, more a thick michaela! To give you an idea, I've had the chat with my semi-pro stepson about who he'd play for England or Ireland, he says he's glad he never had to make it, he would want to play for England, but his nan, his biggest fan! would be devastated if hadn't chose Ireland through lineage. She would never have spoke to him again, she told him to his face and meant it!...gulp! To anyone who doesn't know, but matriach does not begin to describe Irish mother-in-laws! and when they tell you you're taking them out St Patricks Day thats what you'll be doing.
GH10, I owe you thanks! To my shame (and the fact that I have a family to support) I haven't actually been WHL for several years. But now the missus and I are booked for Saturday and I am beyond excited! Probably wouldn't have thought of it without this thread. So many thanks!
