Steve Bruce believes Terry Connor's lack of managerial experience could count against him as the rookie boss battles to keep Wolves in the Premier League. The Molineux club eventually elected to elevate axed manager Mick McCarthy's former assistant to their hot-seat for the remainder of the season after a somewhat shambolic selection process. A number of candidates were linked with the post, only to rule themselves out of contention, including Alan Curbishley, Walter Smith, Gus Poyet and Brian McDermott. Bruce admits he was interviewed before the Midlands club elected to give the job to Connor, but Wolves owner Steve Morgan has since insisted that the former Sunderland boss accepted the role before leaving them in limbo. Connor has seen his position come under scrutiny after just three games in charge in which only one point has been gained and nine goals shipped to leave the Black Country outfit mired in the relegation zone.
The entirety of what you just posted Cest is totally irrelevant. It's as if I said that Sunderland as a club are a disgrace and are the only club who would act like that. No, in fact, I actually used the word "minority". And Bruce is totally right to label them morons. And I would say the same to any NUFC fans who levelled personal abuse at a manager. I am happy to accept that most Sunderland fans did not give this abuse to Bruce, even though on the telly and in the papers, it comes across as if it were the whole stadium. Unless you were there, I suggest you accept that the same was true for all NUFC managers who received abuse. Jeez why does everything have to be NUFC v SAFC with you?
I do feel that he needs to keep his gob shut to save himself further embarrassment. No, he didn't deserve the verbal abuse, no manager of ours deserved that. However, it is in the past now and he needs to let it go...
I would agree with you but...do you think he gives 2 ****s what a bunch of Sunderland supporters think? He is probably bitter about the way things have panned out, so will drag the name of your club through the dirt if it means putting himself in the window for other clubs. Not right or noble, but I dare say most would do it in his situation.
He lost the plot long before he was sacked. - it's because I'm a geordie - Sunderland fans have unrealistic expectations - The team needs time to gel, all after a string of appalling and unacceptable results, adding to his abject failure to hang on to or buy a half decent striker for 2 seasons! <insert primaeval scream> Some of the bitter vitriol is justified.
When was the last time you heard or read an interview from a recently sacked manager of any league standard, nevermind the premier league make reference to the fans who swore at him as morons? I don't recall one manager and do you know why? It is because every club has a minority of fans that swear at their manager. Even during times where the end is not clearly inevitable, the fans swear at the manager yet not one manager I'm aware of has come out and called the fans morons because it it to some degree accepted that some fans will sometimes become overly emotional. Therefore, most managers just accept they were sacked and move on.
IMO Bruce was a shambolic manager but nothing warrants that kind of abuse. If you disagree, that is entirely your prerogative and you are entitled to it. Who was the last manager that had to endure chants of the nature and scale that Bruce did? Chants of "you don't know what you're doing" are common but I can't recall any manager being called a fat bastard. (The geordie part is irrelevant as it is not offensive )
I seem to recall a few rather tasty expletives being pointed towards Mike Ashley in the not to distant past. I seem to recall some rather tasty words being bandied about when Ruud Gullit was sacked subsequent to Sunderlands 2-1 at the sports direct arena, you know the one which was once called sid james park. I seem to recall some quite disgusting comments pointed towards Sir Bobby Robson of all people from the ever so clean fans of the toon army.
I didn't say it warrants that level of abuse, I was helping you understand the frustrations we had at the time, you dimwitted juvenile. Truth hurts sometimes ... please log in to view this image
Never once said the Toon fans were "oh so clean" so you're just plucking that from nowhere. Like I said, it's a minority who Bruce has every right to brand morons. If you disagree with that then you just bracket yourself into that category aswell. With the exception of a couple of mackems, you have all proven once again that you can't just chat about football like civil human beings. You reflect disgracefully on your clubs, and I think any decent mackem would be ashamed to call you fellow fans. THis small club mentality is beyond a joke now where you cant even talk about your club with a Newcastle fan. That's the reason everyone left this board, and I will now follow suit. Enjoy your small club guys, I'll be back if we finish above you in the league to gloat
well it cost me 700 euros to come and watch the match, hotels flights ext, and yes i sang with them, however the only moron was him, he went into derby's ill prepared i even think he enjoyed the skunks doing us, and listening to his ramblings now he comes across, as a thick deluded skunk, and very disappointed with you Cyprus, you didn't have to go there with the moron tag, like Bill of England, myself and a few other we wanted him out long before he went, i know you were true to him till the bitter end, but for me and others his card had been punched.
Your disappointed cause my opinion is different to yours? Wow. I was behind Bruce for a good old while but not "till the bitter end" as you put it. Anyway it's all water under the Bridge now. Lets just hope no one ever feels the need to hurl personal abuse at MON any time soon.
Cyprus you miss read my comments,i was not disappointed at your comments, but your choice of words, branding all supporters that had that view about Bruce were morons, you can go back to comment dot and you will not see any derogatory comments from me to any Sunderland supporter barring Big Chris Shafty and Newcastle wums.
