A little off topic but always an interesting discussion. Who is the best team in the world this season? Barcelona Real Madrid Bayern Munich Its between these 3 obviously as the rest are a way behind. When I started this I was going to say Real Madrid but thinking about it I wouldnt be far wrong by saying Bayern Munich. I mean they are flying home and away and have a hell of a team. I would go as far to say that both Real and Bayern have surpassed Barcelona this season, something you wouldnt of expected. Anyway, as for ourselves, where do we fit into all this? How far behind ar we and what needs to change to bring us to the level of the 3 clubs above?
Barcelona on there day are way better than everyone else, then RM BM are having a good season and thats it
Hence why I said 'this season' Real Madrid have pissed on Bareclona this season. 10 points ahead in LA Liga ( Is anyone else further ahead bar Celtic in all of Europe ) Barcelona must be having a bad season......or the dream is coming to an end......I think the latter as it was never going to last longterm at that level.
Yet in Spain they are number 2? This reminds me of a time when a club from merseyside fluked a CL win in 2005 but didnt win their league.
Many foolish people have made similar statements about United down the years, Barcelona will re-build this year and become more dominant. look at their setup be it coach, finance, youth team... Barca are still easily the best club team in the world, just that Real want la liga more this season - I mean it was going to happen one year after Barca have cleaned up for so long. Lets see how Real get on if Barca end up with no league this year, Baraca will come back as determined as league seasons before to regain that trophy. This happens in sport historically the world over, especially MUFC since 1995. For me this Barcelona are the only team that rivals the sport equivilant of The Harlem Globetrotters. In all my years of watching football I have never seen a team as effective and classy as Barca, the only downside is the need to cheat and feign injury.
I think on their day, no-one comes close to Barcelona. They've struggled a bit on their domestic travels this year but their demolition of Leverkusen shows what they are capable of and that wasn't a one off. If Xavi stays fit for the rest of the season I can't see any other winner of the CL. They are probably too far behind Madrid to win La Liga but I'd back Barca if they meet in the CL.
People underestimating Real Madrid. I mean they have a ten point gap over a club who was as close to perfect as you can get.
Still Barca for me. Mourinho has done with Real what he did with Chelsea - make them into the ultimate flat track bullies. Able to knock over pretty much any inferior team, but still getting beaten and outclassed by Barca in most games. Barca are just that bit too inconsistent in the league, and not helped by the fact that their injuries have also been pretty bad - Villa and Fontas out for the season, Sanchez, Iniesta and Pedro all suffered bad injuries at one point. They've had no consistency in attack what with all the injuries so have struggled to kill teams off. For all their impressiveness against Basel, Bayern are still a long way behind I reckon. What we need to do to catch up is: 1. Stop getting so many injuries! 2. Get a settled back three (GK & CBs) in place, ideally including Vidic once he is back. 3. Get a good box to box midfielder, either Fletcher if he recovers or bring someone else in. That would bring us up to the same level as Bayern imo. To reach Barca and Real is just not feasible right now, without spending the amounts on transfers and wages that they just throw around every season.
Barcelona get my vote, I suppose you can let the champions league decide. We need a world class centre mid to get closer, Paul Scholes can't keep going and I think we are pretty good on the wings and up front. They have Xavi and Iniesta bossing games all the time they have those 2 and messi ovcourse they will be the best.
I fail to see what Barcelona beating Madrid has to do with it? Liverpool always seem to get a result against United but does that mean they are better than us? No. Football is played over time not just one game and the team that comes out better at the end is the better team. There isnt another way of looking at it.
But then if you are only basing in on league positions then why have Bayern in there? They are five points behind Dortmund, so how can they be any better? If you are talking about consistency then yes, Real have the edge. But in terms of quality it's still Barca.
Consistency wins titles. City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal all lack this......United have it. We might not have the quality in some areas but we certainly have consistency.
Last season, next season, 3.8trillion years from now. None of the above mean **** all. I am talking this season only. Barcelona's away form clearly means Real Madrid are a better side against more teams this season. I change my mind and now say Real Madrid the best team right now.
People overrated Bayern Munich. They're not even top of the German League. People also overyhpe Real Madrid. Yes they are having a good season in La Liga but they have done nothing in Europe over the past 7 seasons.
I agree but I am only counting this season. Past seasons mean **** all as they have no bearing on this season.
Without doubt the best team in the world this season, again, is Liverpool they are about to clinch the title for the 6th year in a row very soon and they have the best manager in kk. they also have the best CM of all time in stevie G
