I think it's very important to be positive and to possibly get carried away, that might help the team. Sick of this negative crap. Let's all remember: We lost a manager early in the season and brought in a newbie...things could have gotten a lot worse. We are having a meaningful season. I think this is important, look at teams like burnley, forest and derby all having boring season. won't go down but won't make playoffs season. How boring is that. Whether we make playoffs or not, we're still in it and I expect us to be in the mix until the final minutes of the season. People's expectations seem to skyrocket constantly. Not long ago we were in the ****... literally. I'm happy that we have something to look forward to every time one of our game kicks off, that we still have a shot. If we make playoffs then who knows, results like last night prove that we may not seem as good as other teams around us but we certainly can get results and perform. Yes some probably hoped (kinda stupidly) for top two finish. Unfortunately we don't score enough for that to happen. But we're good enough to finish 6th. We'll need some luck and strength but I think that's something very positive. We have some of the most negative "fans" in the country... we need to stop this crap now. We have a responsibility to the team to support and have faith until the fat lady sings and I will certainly do that. Up the Tigers!
At least they'll have Gardner playing. Those very same options have all been available for ages, even when people were going on about how little depth we had. It's not negative to have simply noticed that we are one of the best teams in the league and far too often we've let crap teams off which is why we're talking about 6th and not 1st or 2nd as we coould have been. Hopefully we'll get a few more results like last night and have a proper go at it!
I agree look at Forest and what has happen to them, take it whilst its there and possible, as you say it may not come around again for a few years.
Wins at Reading and Cardiff and draws at Birmingham and Blackpool and at home to Leeds and Brighton. Earlier in the season our record for taking points off teams in and around the top wasn't great, good to see we've started taking points from sides around us. Last night gave us the perfect platform to push on for the final weeks of the season, every chance this unbeaten run can continue.
It's not exactly true though is it. We got the same points total from the first games against those sides as we did from the second games. Reading we beat in both games. Cardiff we beat in both games. Brighton we drew both games. Birmingham we won the earlier game and drew the later one. Blackpool and Leeds we lost the early game and drew the later game.
I didn't necessarily agree with the criticism, but I remember after the Middlesbrough game there was a thing made about us not doing so well against the top sides in this league (or the top 6 teams as they were then). Results over the season have proved it false as you have pointed out.
To be fair the criticism is right, we're crap against the other sides. With us and the ones you mentioned West Ham, So'ton, and M'boro make up the top 10. We obviously lost the other 3 games and haven't played the returns yet. What we haven't done really is improve our record against them recently, we've been consistent where comparisons can be made.
