Hello and welcome to the official Not606 match thread for tonight's NextGen Series semi-final encounter between Liverpool & Ajax. The game is scheduled to kick-off at 7PM at Langree Park, St Helens. The game will be shown live on LFCTV and build-up begins at 6.30PM. Preview. So here we are... Liverpool in a semi-final of the Champions League! Yes, the NextGen series (Often known as the Under 19's Champions League) has reached the semi-final stage and tonight, Liverpool take on Ajax. Next Wednesday, Inter Milan take on Marseille but we are here to talk about Liverpool & Ajax. The Dutch side have been excellent in this tournament so far with their best performance being in the quarter-final. They beat Barcelona 3-0 on their own patch. Ajax were outsiders for that game with Barcelona's youth looking good but Ajax produced a strong away performance to knock out the Spanish side and book a place in the semi-finals. They had a decent run to this stage. Good results in the group stages against Aston Villa (2-0) & Fenerbahce (5-1). They also picked up a result against Rosenborg but seemed to take their foot off the gas after that. In their final three games, they drew 1 and lost 2. They still qualified though! Liverpool, on the other hand, have had a slightly more difficult route into the semi-finals. The group stages were difficult with Sporting Lisbon, knocked out by Inter, showing their class and beating Liverpool 5-1 in Portugal. However, the reds produced good performances against Molde & Wolfsburg to qualify in second place. They then faced fellow English side, Tottenham Hotspur. Liverpool had many chances in that game but ended up losing 1-0. In a twist, Spurs reported an accidental breach of rules to NextGen and Liverpool took their place in the semi-finals!
