I think that you are all being a little unfair to Charlie Adam. I really believe that he has been trying (perhaps too hard) despite undergoing a very bad case of 2nd season syndrome and having to try and compensate for the absence of Gerrard. Yes he does need to be withdrawn from the firing-line, but I think that he will be an essential part of our squad next season. Remember, this is the same guy who's shots and passses very nearly kept Blackpool up last season. This is my first chance to comment on last night as I've only just sobered-up!! It was great. With Suarez and Gerrard around it gave Carroll the opportunity to show how useful he can be as a target man and as a link whilst still giving CBs something to worry about. OK not the demon striker that we want but still a vast improvement on what we have seen. My only worry from last night was the ease with which Everton could pressurise our right side.
Nothing wrong with him as a squad player but as a starter I just can't see it. I think we will buy more quality in midfield as well and that will push him down the order I think. Again, he will have his uses but for me, not a first team player. Anyway, we looked good last night, Imagine Lucas instead of Spearing and that is a pretty formidable midfield and attack ( although still need goals from our FORWARDS!!!!)
Personally in the summer I would sell Adam,IMO Shelvey is a better player now, and I would persoanlly pick Shelvey b4 him
