http://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Potters&action=display&thread=154699 Here's the main message of the above thread: It is my very sad task to inorm all fellow Stokies that legend Terry Conroy is tonight fighting for his life in a City General Operating Theatre having suffered a vascular aneurysm late this afternoon. I was in the A&E with a relative when he was brought in, his condition was decribed by the doctor as 'very serious', Not going to post anything else on here about this, just wanted all genuine Stokies the chance to join in prayer for him, and hope for good news in the morning.
Norfolk No it doesn't but you never say never I suppose. T.C. was my boyhood hero a legend in every way. And, I got too meet the great man some time ago. Me Mam arranged for me to meet Terry at the Brit. My 50th Birthday present. A meal and prog all thrown in. I will never forget what a gent he was too! I've posted the "latest news on T.C." on 606 mate. Let's all PRAY that he comes through this.
http://www.stokecityfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10310~2320937,00.html Terry is "critical but stable". That sounds promising at least.

Pottermouth...thanks for that, will have a gander and check to see how he's doing. What a fab 50th birthday pressie...well jealous!!
Hope he is doing better now, Sad news to hear, I never like to hear news like that definatly as Conroy was great in his time.
He is mate. He woke up early afternoon apparently, and was laughing and joking so he sounds like he's doing ok touch wood. Hopefully he can get better and up about in time for the Semi-Final as it would be sad if he didn't come as he is a legend of our club. Sadly never saw him play myself, I've seen old footage, his goal against Arsenal in our 5-0 win over them was a scorcher and i've heard nothing but good things about him, both as a player and as a gentleman.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-12996498? Former Stoke City winger Terry Conroy is recovering at home from an aneurysm doctors said he had only a one-in-10 chance of surviving. The 64-year-old ex-Republic of Ireland international was attending a St Patrick's Day event when he became critically ill. He said medics had told him other patients in his condition often died on the way to hospital or during surgery. They said his residual fitness from football helped him to survive surgery. Conroy had been out on Sunday 20 March at an event celebrating St Patrick's Day, which fell earlier in the week, when he was taken ill. He said he was also celebrating Stoke City's 4-0 win over Newcastle and Ireland's 24-8 win over England in the Six Nations rugby in Dublin, which were both the day before the party. Blunt talking "I was just sitting down at the table and felt an excruciating pain in my back," he said. "I had to go outside to get some fresh air and I began to feel a little bit light-headed. "The next thing I know, I'm flat out on the ground surrounded by medics." His central heart valve was leaking and he was taken to a hospital 500 yards away. "The doctor put it as bluntly as he possibly could, he said 50% of the people who have this kind of complaint will die as soon as this happens, on the way to the hospital. There's a 25% chance that people will die in the ambulance and then on the operating table you might not survive it." The doctors managed to operate on him successfully. "They said 'being a sportsman obviously helped you to withstand the pressure of the operation and that's pulled you through'," he added. The winger was capped 26 times by the Republic of Ireland and played 333 times for Stoke City, scoring the club's first goal in a 2-1 win over Chelsea in the 1972 League Cup final.
Sgt I was talking too Harry Burrows before the Chelsea game, yet another of Stoke's GREAT player's often meet him outside the ground. He told me that Terry is doing really well, If Harry say's that then it's fantastic news. I only hope he's fit enough too see play Bolton at Wembley. My daughter say's you usually make a full recovery from this type of thing. That's of course assuming you are lucky enough to get medical hel fast. Seem's that T.C. did just that. Get well soon, T.C.
