Yeah it would have been a disaster without him, He is a great player and will be at the club for years hopefully, Well he is loyal and that is brilliant in football these days.
Interesting to see Nugent and Mullins on the list considering how much stick they got from the fans last season. As for best player, always a difficult decision although I'd say Ashdown has been a Jack in the box.
Yeah but it seems this season Nugent has been key for Pompey, May only have like 8 goals but they havent scored alot so he has scored about A fifth of them. The goals seem to be spread at the club as many players have 1,2,3 or 4 this season. As for Mullins he has been quiet good.
voted for rocha myself also been very impressed with nugents work rate and the mighty herman but the big difference at the back seems to be rocha for me. he has given that belief that all is not lost, even when you miss a tackle you can still get back and throw something in front of the shots, whereas before it just seemed a case of oh well he beat me lets just hope the keeper deals with it. the back four on the whole have been superb since the two level(ish) heads have slotted back in!!
I voted for Jamie as, when the season started, the majority, myself included I'm ashamed to say, thought he would struggle. He has proved the doubters wrong, beyond doubt. He is a great keeper, who should be no1 for the Championship team of the season.
Sorry to say mate but I though that he wouldn't be up to the job as he had never had a chance and I thought the reason behind that was that he would be rubbish, But no that is not the case he is a top class player with a good future hopefully just for Pompey.
ashdown as a shot stopper has always been top class and i had confidence in him from the start on that aspect of the game but i am still not so keen on the crosses side of things. it frustrates me sometimes that the ball can pop up in the air in the box and he stays planted on his line. i am sure as a kid training and watching matches back then it was a case of any thing in the box should be dealt with by the keeper even watching Alan knight this weekend proved that for me. practically every cross and corner was met with a clear "KEEPERS" shout and a pair of hands arms length above the attackers, even if it meant clattering through a few bodies to get there the way that goal keepers are protected these days you would end up with a free kick half the time. hes done a good job for us with some vital saves but i just feel if he could get that in to his game as well he would be the best at this level. on a plus note his distribution has improved as the season has progressed we finally seem to moving away from the lump it to nugent method!
It would appear HOADIE_BOI that majority of fans have voted for Jamie Ashdown ahead of The Nuge. Can't imagine anyone else will catch them up vote wise.
Yeah, Just seeing if anyone else wants to vote as it has not been active on this poll since like last week so wanted to see if there was any new Pompey fans on here who would want to vote and yeah Ashdown has won it easy, he is great.
