I've just been reading the BBC website and it states on there that 6 parties have expressed an interest in obtaining the club. Now I realise this is going to sound disrespectful and there isn't any really intended towards Vale. But, how come a club like Port Vale can attract that number of interested parties when we were told we had 3 and 2 of them were by pretty much non starters at the outset who had no money at all.

If ever there was confirmation that the Administrators failed miserably to market this club properly when they could and should have then the above is it. What has Port Vale got going for it that Argyle didn't have and then some? The potential here must be several times greater than they have for starters. Best of luck to Vale and I hope they make it out of Admin sooner rather than later but it does stick in my gullet somewhat. Yes I am jealous but I can't help it.

sensible, you can't seriously believe that there were only 2 or 3 potential buyers for Argyle! I believe there were a lot more than that but as we later found out (almost too late) our administator was only interested in one party - only he knows the reason for that.

The only ones I ever heard about were Beautyvant, The Rat from Truro and Brent. If there were others then they kept fairly quiet about it.

I'm sure there were more, they just didn't want us to know about them!

And what evidence do you have at this stage that all the potential purchasers for Port Vale are bona fide?

I have only what is said on the BBC website notdistant. But, it surprises me that there are 6 declared by the Administrator where I only ever heard of 3 for Argyle. The shock to me is that Port Vale has anything going for it much at all. Not exactly glamorous and nor is it in an area where there are no other teams close by. I will stick with my thought that Argyle were not marketed properly by the Administrator we had thanks even if it is just a theory rather than a proven fact.

I think more likely this goes back to the old arguments about football in the hotbeds of the Midlands & the North as compared to the surfing idyll of the South West.

I remember going to Notts County one glorious early Spring evening a long time ago to watch Argyle go down 1-0 to a 2nd half thunderbolt goal in a nothing-at-stake end of season game. This was in the lower 2 divisions, I don't remember which, and I'd think there were no more than 4,000 there but the quality of the car park attached to the main grandstand was astonishing. Wall to wall Merc's, Beemers, Jags and even more desirable motoring exotica.

It always stuck in mind that the level of moneyed interest in that fairly modest club was completely different to that at Argyle.
