Maybe I'm old fashioned but a proper derby is hatred as well as rivalry, you don't want to see people holding hands and kissing opposition fans whilst watching your team play theirs, that's what Rugby is for. Let's be honest does it matter for Liverpool that much if Everton get one over on them? No. I am sure that mot Liverpool fans would much rather beat United and identify them as bigger rivals. Take Derby vs Forest for example, everything is on the line. Derby are Forest's biggest rivals and vice versa. Forest lose tonight and they could go down. Derby lose tonight and it puts a massive dampener on their season. I didn't mean to slam your derby, I was a bit overzealous but for me the only genuine big derbies in the Premier League in order are: 1) Tyne-Wear Derby 2) Black Country Derby 3) Manchester Derby 4) North London Derby and then on the fringes you'd have Spurs vs Chelsea; WBA vs Villa and Liverpool vs Everton. If Birmingham come up then the Brum derby makes the above list.

I kind of agree with both of you in a sense. But why you've put the Manchester derby as number 3 is astounding, considering their very recent rise. The Mersyside derby is a friendly derby (usually) as families often have split alliances. Plus the fact Hillsbourough touched the whole city, red and blue. Personally I love the Mersyside derby - but prefer it when we beat the Mancs But a derby is a derby - so there's nothing real to debate in that sense
