I'll be able to watch at least 20 games or so,next season,if we go up.I can watch games at 3pm on saturdays .
Don't worry, we can't lift it that day. We can confirm ourselves as winners, but the handing over of the trophy will be saved for Coventry at home. EDIT: IF we win it, before I get called arrogant.
Well ill be in the Saints end anyway, live about 20 minutes outside of Boro and they are feeling the pressure at the moment, got a lot of family coming up too, anyone know the ticket allocation?
Don't know about Championship title, but I'm sure that the PL trophy has been presented at other grounds when title was confirmed and I didn't think it was end of the season. Ready to be corrected.
If you watched the recent QPR documentary, you'll remember that QPR were presented with the Championship trophy, on the pitch, at the end of their defining game, after the FL decided not to deduct points from them.
95% sure the trophy is presented at other grounds only if it's the last game of the season and it's just been decided that day (Man United lifted the trophy at Wigan because that was the last game and that was the deciding game.) Otherwise it's presented at the last home game of the season. EDIT: Just checked and Brighton lifted the trophy at home to Huddersfield last season (their last home match of the season and their penultimate match overall), which would seem to back up the above.
Brighton could have mathematically finished second right up to their penultimate game. Its as simple as this. If the leaders are clear then the trophy is normally at the ground ready to be presented at every match once a single win could make them champions. If that is 10 games before the end of the season that is what happens. If it is close then they don't take a trophy to each ground, it is presented the following match after the title is won. So if we go into the 3rd last game 6 clear of 2nd needing only a point the trophy will be at that ground ready. If it goes to the last game then there will be a replica at each possible winner's ground with the real thing presented another time. If it goes to the penultimate game with 1 team 1 point ahead of second then in theory the top team could lose that and the last game with the second place team winning and reversing the positions. The trophy would be at the leaders game though for that game incase second lost and top won. At least that is how it used to happen, maybe it has changed but I remember teams getting trophies well before the end of the season sometimes. Andy
Let's not get ahead of ourselves - we're only three points ahead with another 30 to play for. We could finish mid-table yet (God forbid) Let's have this conversation nearer the time
Cool, i have 4 non saints fans flying over with me that day and aren't going to the match with me but they were hoping it would be on in a pub somewhere close to the ground
Sod it. I'm going to have to out my best sales head on to convince the wife I can take my son to that now it's a later kick off. Better start the ironing now ...
