You just hate being shown up for the plastic mug that you are. It happened on BBC 606 and it has happened here. It will follow you everywhere you go so live with it :)

Wumpole are you determined to be the biggest knob on the board these days ? He doesn't have to back up a damn thing. what he said is totally correct, enough of us have argued with PISKIE because of his staunch refusal to admit he is wrong or there there is a problem - even when we have proved it - he still refuses. This chap doesn't have to provide you or anyone else proof of anything.

What aggravates me about what you write and others like you are, I have family who are Arsenal fans and their opinions on Wenger are far worse than anybody on this board - but according to you and yours they would be plastics. I would love to see anyone call them a plastic. They are more of a fan than most, they bleed Arsenal, born and raised in the manor. I'll introduce you to one and you can call him a plastic seeing as you are a "proper Arsenal " fan.

  6. Ummmmnnnn Mr Samurai ..... well if he does, he hasn't always shown it. Let's not forget the unprepared start to the season or the inability to stem the rot of the 3 final months of the previous season. The former cost us valuable points which when added to the failed campaign in January this year has meant we are once again looking for 3rd or 4th place at best. No silverware of any sort for seven years. Being there or thereabouts is not enough for a great club like ours. The spirit shown largely since February has been excellent. Hope it continues <ok>

Arsene won't spend and in a way I see his point. The way money has been thrown around the game has ruined it for all but the richest clubs. The proliferation of oligarch or oil money has done nothing that benefits the sport in a true sense and for the long term. Selling out to the money men should never have been allowed in the first place. I believe in Germany, clubs are largely owned by supporters. Now would that not be a better approach?

However Arsene has also spent money inefficiently. Paying that silly wages structure and to failed experiments in the likes of Denilson, Squillaci and others is a consequence of his policy.

If however Arsene changes his style then I'll have no problem backing him. As it is, while good as it currently is, it's just a little beyond damage limitation. The damage in Sep, Oct and Jan had already cost us the EPL this season.

If we are honest we all know what is good, what is bad, what is right and what is wrong about the club. Wenger has in all but words accepted he has gotten things wrong, this season has been a roller coaster, the good the bad and the ugly. We have seen Wenger do things he doesn't normally do, he got riled by suggestions that he didn't know what he was doing by fans. Fan power has played a part in all of this, the often disapproval of actions reminded Wenger ultimately who he is answerable to - but fair play he responded admirably and we have all seen changes in him.

He has made earlier subs, he is playing players on form, we have in recent weeks played a more direct game at times in games. These have all been major flaws in Wenger's game in the past but he is showing more flexibility. He's not perfect but he is beginning to get it right. I'd like to see what he does in the summer, will he address the other problems we have or not.

We still have some way to go but I am pleased we are going in the right direction finally. Nobody can deny he got it massively wrong at the start of the season but I am man enough to say he is getting it right now. The mediocrity that had become acceptable seems to be vanishing, about bloody time too, no Arsenal fan should've been tolerating it and adjusting our goals just because there are clubs with greater spending power is a major cop out - we should be able to compete with them all on the pitch.

Hotty you baby blue caterpillar wearing nonce. Your literacy skills are clearly on a par with your numeracy :p

    For hopefully the last time;

Nobody has ever come on here and said Wenger can do no wrong.
Nobody has ever said the team is perfect.
Nobody has ever said that changes weren't needed.
    Got that?
    Good.
So, you and your pals who repeatedly claim otherwise are ****wit liars and that needs to be pointed out.
    Got that?
    Good.

Your main spokesperson (Jamrag) uses 95% of his posts to hammer the manager, team & club, week in & week out. Even after we have just soundly stuffed the enemy he is at it. Some of us are sick of him and those that do nothing but repeat his bile verbatim.
    Got that?
    Good.

Now then, about that big tough family of yours <mocktremblingsmiley>
My dad is bigger than your dad.
My little sister could knock you into next week.
My cat could eat your goldfish.
    Got that?
    Good.

    p.s. Yes, I have a big knob.
    Got that?
    Good.

This thread is a little premature, let's wait and see what happens at the end of this season and the beginning of the next. There appears to be some positives in our play nowadays, with a more direct, no nonesense approach. Let's hope things continue in the right way and we become more competitive next year.

However, if Pep was available next season, i would take him in a heartbeat and move Wenger upstairs. The organisation, team unity and energy that he's brought Barca is something we need at Arsenal. We are just too inconsistent at the moment.

We shouldn't let Wenger off the hook completely, particularly with regard to his squad decisions. Not being able to afford to sign a lot of top players is one thing but persisting with dross is quite another. If the right things are done this summer then there is no-one I would want to manage the team more than Wenger.

I think it's great having so many different points of view, no matter how positive or negative they can be. That is what makes a great forum!

This thread is hilarious and SO stupid.
WUM is clearly a disciple of the Piskie school of thought, and brown-nosing par excellence......

Whats happened to Pisk? - having his brain rewired to my way of thinking <laugh>
    seriously - hope he's alright?

  15. I think there is far greater balance offered in his contribution but for which he receives little credit. We have all had our moments on the board and it is easy to point fingers at those whose views are not in accordance with ours. If you look at his posts I don't think you could reasonably argue that they are all without merit. Same for Wumpole and almost anyone else.

More importantly we should be able to engage with each other without the need to tar each other with labels.

Wumpole - I can't be bothered tit for tatting with you but I will say this; there have been many of us who, while posting views contrary to some, have been attacked personally for having those views, I don't need to name names or incidents, we all know what I am talking about. Many of the comments criticised the players and the manager, the rebuttals were in the form of rebukes and accusations of not being a proper fan amongst other things, for DARING to criticise. Like I said, proof is not needed, everybody knows what I am talking about, whether or not you accept it is up to you, makes no diff to me.

As for the PLASTICS insult, I'm glad you are getting defensive, you should too. Its easy to mudsling but it is harder to argue huh wummy. I suggested you meet some of my fam not for a punch up <doh> but for you to see a level of emotion that .. I just don't think you realise exists. what you and some of your chums would have us believe is, if you criticise the club/team then cheer them, you are some kind of plastic, you should not be criticising. I say BOLLOX ! And once you talked to my fam you would know why thats bollox. You are talking people born and raised in Holloway, some went to Highbury Grove, St Aloysius, Tollington and Holloway Boys schools. some went to Islington Sixth form Centre (like me) which is next to the Tollington pub. Some went to the college round the corner from Argos. These boys are Arsenal through and through, so who the fcuk are YOU to call them and people like them plastic Arsenal fans ?

Keep your stupid comments to yourself.

I was off getting married <ok> been tucked away in a beautiful corner of the world with no computers.

This polarised argument about 'wenger can do no wrong' vs 'plastic fans' is nonsense. I've never once said that there's nothing wrong or there aren't improvements to be made, but what I have always been consistent about is the fact that we've never been that far off. Even after the 8-2 I said that we were still good enough for top 4 when some on here were predicting a mid table finish. The margins in football are fine, that's why I've never gone on a rant about sacking Wenger, the board, our players etc because when we've lost games it's usually been down to things that were in our control to put right, which we now have done. With the same players, the same manager, the same tactics and the same approach. That's why I never bought into the 'full blown crisis' panic arguments, as they were simply just way wide of the mark.
