Spurs will pull ahead. With impressive away victories over City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton I think they've got the title in the bag. HIAG was right, Spurs will win the double now as well.

How big is that gap now over us and Arsenal? Bet it must be huge :headbang:

Ignoring spurs for a minute the massive gap from the top 2 and the rest is pretty poor for the prem as a competition! The fight for the other two places is interesting now!

Here's hoping you drop mata for the derby <laugh> - what was di Matteo thinking today? Didn't take long to realise his mistake to his credit though!

The PL is starting to look more and more like La Liga. Only 2 good teams in it.

Something that I think must be be getting up our sugar daddy's nose in a big way. We've all been aware for a while now, that major surgery is required to the squad in the close season--what with ageing "legends" and regular under-performers.The key ingredient will be the coach! RDM made some weird team selection's yesterday and we got away with it-just! This battle for fourth place cannot be gambled with ! Its do or die --every game--and he needs to show he's taking it seriously!

No, because all the lower teams cause upsets week in week out. In la Liga Barca and Real barely ever get touched.

United have surprised me because we've seen in Europe how ****e they really are. They are still helped enormously by refs in this country.

Yep, another penalty yesterday. Even though it was justified, such decisions go in favour of their opposition far less often. United player down in box, too often a penalty. Opposition down, waved away. Seen it too many times , over too many years for it to be coincidental.

I didn't think it was a pen. Ashley Young is a diving cheat.

It's beneficial for the footballing authorities and TV broadcasters if United are winning so it's no surprise to see them favoured so much especially at Old Trafford <ok>

And a red card. I make that a referee hattrick for United.

I don't think it's updated for yesterday's pen yet but this page is an interesting read: http://www.myfootballfacts.com/Premier_League_Penalty_Statistics.html

referees are just squad members of moanu..

No it doesn't, United get over two penalties for ever one given against them. It's also more than penalties you get from refs.

Yeah and they say that they hate England because of the FA's "harsh treatment of Manure.
They're quick enough to represent the FA in the CL though. ****ers.

What about City? THREE penalties for every one given.

Who had the most penalties last year? and the year before and the year before that?

Have United ever had the most penalties in a season?

Sorry but the facts shown do not show a bias in favour of united. It shows a bias against United by a bunch of straw clutching bitter fans of an ex Cl club.

I wasn't talking about just this season.

Anyway, did you see the penalty decisons in your game yesterday? They both would've been soft but you got one, they didn't. Funnily enough the same ref allowed Welbeck commit a foul on a WBA defender and go through to miss an open goal, it was a nearly identical foul that won you a penalty.

Not sure who you're calling an ex CL club, you might not have noticed but you're not in it either <doh>

I understand your argument but it's subjective.

I think we all know United get favoured by refs but you can't prove that using statistics like that as they only prove what you want it to prove. Sure United get pens but what if all of them were nailed on pens?

We got 12 penalties in 09/10 and apart from the one against the Spammers at Pikey Park I can't remember one of the other 11 that wasn't a penalty, that doesn't mean we are favoured.

Teams with more possession that attack and create more goalscoring opportunities are likely to get more pens.

A better argument would to show the United bias would be this....

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/sep/22/manchester-united-goals-stoppage-time

and this to a far lesser extent...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpWsLit5Wdc

The bottom line is United have a fanbase larger than most, in fact the largest in the world by a stretch bar the La Liga clubs. For papers to sell, Sky viewers to tune in, MOTD viewers to stay tuned in the league needs a strong United, that's why In my eyes the United favouritism will never end.

For years Northern clubs have been favoured by the FA and this goes back a lot longer than most think. <ok>

Th added time also is a statistic that they can dismiss, teams leading against United are more likely to take part in time wasting. The extra time played in the City game can also be explained away if you want. What can't be ignored, however, is how the same ref (Atkinson) only went 35 seconds over the added time when Everton had brought it back scoring twice in added time. Everton just happened to be on the attack at the time <whistle>

Big teams do tend to get the rub of the green but no one gets it quite like United, I don't believe that it's any great conspiracy. Clattenberg and Webb might enjoy giving United as much of the decisions as they can but most of the other refs know that drawing criticism from Fergie can kill their career. Atkinson had the audacity to give the marginal decisons to you last season. He was criticised by Fergie and promptly dropped to the Championship despite being one of the elite referees. He also didn't referee United in the Premier League again for a year but when he returned he behaved himself much better.

Ferguson effectively picks the ref because the FA don't let a ref who's been criticised anywhere near a United game for months and often they will find themselves dropped to a lower league.
