"If Portsmouth are 13 or more points adrift in the drop zone when they visit St. Mary's, a defeat will relegate them".... They're currently 8 points adrift with a game and hand, and are set to lose goalkeeper Stephen Henderson to West Ham on loan this week, with some of their higher-earners leaving the exit door shortly. Tick tock....
Nope, I don't it to be us that does it. I take no pleasure in that. If it happens, so be it, but I'd rather they either stayed up or if they have to succumb, to be relegated by another team.
It is written in the stars...... The most painful of days for the skates................ever, coming soon.
Why? Its not like we're wishing that we lose to WBA and they go down because of other results, we are playing them, we need the points, no mercy, no bounce, no play.
We relegate them or we've won the league by the final day and throw the game against Coventry so they go down like they did to us... don't even have to think about it, we trash them 5-0 to send them down!
If we don't send them down, how about this scenario?...going into the last game already crowned as champions and the Skates need to do better than Coventry's result...then we lose the game at home to Coventry to send the Skates down. Poetic justice?...I think so.... They have used that game against West Brom as a stick to beat us ever since it happened.
Throwing the game against Coventry is cheap, no way, we beat them, then if they have enough points they stay up, if they don't they go down, we just look after ourselves. But, we take back a 4-1.
Whatever happens, they will come to St Mary's and cause trouble! They will not care at all about the game, they will come for the riot...
I'm just looking forward to the "Div3 hoofball" taunts next season...I bet they don't take it as well as we did.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't win. Of course I want us to win. I want us to win every single match we play, bar none. I don't want the consequence of our win to relegate them. However, if it does, then so be it. But I'll take no pleasure in relegating them. I'm not rubbing my hands in glee at the prospect of doing so. There, I've said exactly the same thing as I did first time, but written it slightly differently.
I hope we thrash them & they all cry themselves to sleep. There, I've done the same. Nothing wrong with wanting to win. But Milans comments will always bug me, so Appleton, I'm willing to go in goal this time.
Not to be pedantic but aren't there 5 games left after we play Pompey? Surely they need to be 16 points from safety?
I want to win every game. Even it was our victory against them which mathematically sent them down, we wouldn't have done that. All the other games they lost and the football league -10 penalty would have done that. I remember seeing some of their fans celebrating on the TV after losing a game of football against WBA and I thought, what a bunch of sad muppets. Let's all stay classy.
Indeed, there are. And right now, they're only eight adrift with a massive advantage in goal differential...Bristol City and Forest would need to string together quite a run to make it possible. And really, I'm perfectly happy to have that game mean as little as possible to them; much rather they didn't have the extra incentive of staving off relegation at the hands of their bitter rivals.
It will mean a lot, whether they are down & out or out & up. They will be trying 100%. We will have to break down the most determined team. No doubt.
