    The connection is that this list of clubs are the last 5 opponents that Portsmouth have faced whilst still in the Carling Cup.

    Namely season 2009/10 Round 4 Stoke City, R5 Aston Villa - then out

    Season 2010/11, R 1 Stevenage, R2 Crystal Palace, R3 Leicester City- then out.

    So the answer must be Portsmouth as the connection in the Carling Cup!<magic>
