I can't quite help but think that, should England beat Sri-Lanka and A-N-Other in the semis, reaching the final would be a bit on a par with Argentina reaching the 1990 FIFA World Cup final after finishing 3rd (out of 4) in their group.
Not sure what you mean; sure we lost to a few minnows, but the way I see it, we beat West India and South Africa, both very strong sides and tied with India, the tournament favourites so we have shown we have what it takes to beat the best, if we get those sorts of performances rather than the ones vs Bangladesh and Ireland then I think we deserve to be where we are. Look at the World Twenty20, we lost to Windies (A little unfairly) and Ireland had us on the ropes but went out due to rain. We hardly got through, but went on to win the tournament on merit.
We'll have to see which England team turns up. On the plus side, although we struggled against all three 'lesser sides'; losing to two of them, we have shown real mettle against the big sides.
Should be a very good game, though I think with all England's injuries, and in Colombo, Sri Lanka will be too good. India v Australia should be an absolute cracker too, while I'd expect Pakistan and South Africa to win their respective quarters.
Shame I had to remove you from my ignore list to read this, but Mr Nice, stop pretending you like sport!
