It isnt about the money..it is about who you give it to to spend. Kenny and Comolli are clueless..and all your signings smell of Comolli..im a Spurs fan i should know....Get rid of Comolli and maybe Kenny might use it slightly more wisely..
we cant do what city did. We have to follow the Man Utd model. Look where they are by playing a combination of experience and good youth. we have that experience and we have that good youth.......
not one of them cost 35 million that is what hurts you at the end of the day..but dont let that get in the way of you wanting to win an argument. Modric was our most expensive at just shy of 17 million. Lennon cost 1 million Assou Ekotto cost 3.5 million Kaboul cost 8 million Bale cost 7 million Total 36.5 million...you go and do the maths id say thats 1.5 more than your star player and all of them you mentioned have been a succes He wasted 16 million a pop on Bentley and Bent aswell. i think you know what i was saying...but hey..stick with him....good luck..your spot on Commolli is the man!
Not trying to win an argument, couldn't give a monkeys who supposedly wins it. I was merely pointing out your arrogance towards a man that gave your team the basis to do what they have done in the last couple of years which has given you a base to go on to bigger and better things (assuming you either hang on the Redknapp or get a decent replacement) Bentley was a mistake but I think Bent's performances outside of Spurs has shown he is a good player, he just had to compete with Berbatov (didn't he buy him? Sold him for a profit too?), Keane (same applies?) and Defoe (is that third time lucky?) You forgot to point out that he also got £50m for a non-performing striker Not saying he 'is the man' but I would rather judge him after a couple of years rather than a couple of signings. His work for Tottenahm didn't look great until the latter stages of his time there, more so after he left.
nothing to do with arrogance...i couldnt give a squirt of piss about comolli..im surprised you do....i understand you shouldnt judge your team yet if you apply the principle that you used with Spurs...ill ask you another question...if Carrol had cost 10 million we all would have been saying that he looks good for 10 million and that he is young and has shown signs of being a good player...what has changed? nothing but what was paid for him...im surprised as hard working paying fans your not too bothered about whos head should be chopped for paying and allowing the payement of such a fee for a decent squad player at best. Im not having a pop...im a fan like yourself...and nothing would rile me more than to see money that we as fans pay just being squandered at Spurs....or in your case Liverpool....so to answer the OP question...yes money needs to be thrown into the team but you need to make sure you think twice before handing the shopping list to certain people. No hard feelings Gerrard Carrard Suarrol mate...just trying to have a debate about football...1-1 Arsenal-Newcastle so far.....at least we are both happy with the same thing on that front
No hard feelings at all I actually agree with most of that post. I don't exactly idolise Comolli but I like to think I can see the good work that he brings to the table. As you said, £10m for Carroll and there wouldn't be any questions. With this I try to think of thought patterns at 11.30pm on 31 January 2011, Torres was leaving and Comolli and Kenny clearly felt they needed someone and fast. He was a panic buy IMO. Not really got an interest in the Arsenal v Newcastle game other than it being a football match. Obviously I want us to finish as high as possible which means us getting above Newcastle (and Arsenal just scored in injury time as I type) but I think we will hit a little bit of form shortly and finish above Newcastle anyway. No disrespect to Newcastle intended as they are a very good side and it won't be easy.
