Is Manchester City going to fall short as Liverpool did.???

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by LuisDiazgamechanger, Mar 12, 2012.

  1. Ok, I'll correct you. It wasn't Man City that pushed us out of the top four, it was Spurs with Man City finishing fifth in 2009-10. You may remember Spurs playing well in the Champions League?

    Agreed.

But with the mancs luck I can see them winning all but the city match. So City will need to win all their 10 matches

Perhaps we will pass you whilst you are on your way down. There's only so long that you can wring results out of a less than average squad (this year you had to go back to the geriatrics). Now remember many of us on this board have experience of that so we do know what we are talking about.

This season has proved that we didn't need Jones as our back 4 performance is far better than yours. As for Young, he has blown hot and cold for you and we don't need players like that.

Generally Dave Young has been pretty good. He has been injured for a ot of the season and was unfit when he came back but once back to match fitness he has been good.

Do you prefer Downing ? At least Downing is consistant <whistle>

Certainly in midfield, possibly in attack but not in defence. Every time Kompany misses a game they look like a shambles at the back. We've had to cope without Vidic for much of the season whilst Smalling, Jones and Rio have also been out for spells. Maybe Fergie's just better at coping with key personnel not being available.

You've conceded one goal less than us and we've had a load of injuries, our captain has missed most of the season.

I appreciate you wouldn't want a hot and cold player like Young, especially when you have someone as frozen as Downing.

Always. It's all been down to luck. In 1996 Liverpool had the Spice Boys, the future of English football, but luck favoured United and we won the double with an average squad. We've been lucky enough to win a lot of trophies with a number of very average squads. Kenny's been very unlucky that most of the players he's signed have turned out to be crap.

Eric, I never did like Young - and that's not a United thing at all. He's like a lot of widemen in that he tries to bully defenders. When he finds he can't he slinks off and becomes invisible. Now as much as I didn't like Ronaldo you could never accuse him of that - even Giggs in his day didn't do that.

Manchester United do not have to play Arsenal, Chelsea or any of the traditional top four this season again:however ,City have Chelsea at home and Arsenal away I strongly beieve that United have the chance of getting more points than city in the remaining games. But City knows like every one that it does not work out like that all the time.
United are always better in the second half of the season- they now have the momentum<ok>

True but it's been a loyal servant for 20 years so it may feel like sticking around a while longer.

I must admit, in the words of Krazy Keegan, I ****ing love it when opposition fans try and put United's success down to luck or referees being biased. It must infuriate the **** out of them when we've won things as in their minds there can have been no logical explanation as to why such a **** bunch of players, who don't compare with the players in their teams, managed by a drunk of a manager, who doesn't compare to the genius managing their club, somehow shamble their way to trophies.

I get the United X Liverpool rivalry plays into all of this but why the **** do we care what is going on at the top of the table? We are no where near it, 28 points is it? We need to focus on ourselves and what we can do better. We were supposed to have an easy run in until the end of the season but look at us now, 10 points off and an inconsistent side. I think City have way more quality than we did in the 09 year ( maybe not the same team work aspect but quality they have). I think they could probably do it, but if not, then that should be even more drive for anyone associated with Liverpool to get us not just into the top 4, but challenging again.

I want in the next 2 years for this conversation to be " can Liverpool hold on" instead of not even in the equation.

Finally! A manure supporter who recognises that his team are really just a lucky load of crap players, managed by a drunk who have got lucky for the last 2 seasons. <laugh>

We are not even challenging for a champions league place a nd this is unacceptable with the investment that's gone in.

When I walked into the second of my locals from the first on Sunday, I didn't know the result of either manc game. However, I heard them baying at me before I even got through the inside door. The fact that there were still man utd supporters in there gave me the answer anyway.

It's yours to lose once again and sadly, I can't see it. More grief for me <doh>
